I also use something called tiger balm and that is a life saver! You can find it at most drug stores and it smells but it works real well. Hope you feel better and I am a computer geek now as well and worked in a warehouse so my shoulder is trashed, going to try acupuncture. I recommend you try physical therapy with your doctor's supervision, before surgery. Go over all of these issues with your doctor.
