Tennis Elbow … questions not answered by Dr?
Hey,
I’ve had pain in my elbow for a week now, that’s been getting worse. Over the weekend especially – despite the fact I was completely rested. Also some swelling has started.
Today I went to a Dr who was very un-sympathetic and barely examined the elbow. He shrugged at it and said "it had only been a week", must be tennis elbow and didn’t seem to hurt that much. Despite me insitsting it hurt more at night than early morning (my appt. was 8.30am) and it had stopped me sleeping all night. He said to take ibruprofen for a week or two and more or less shoved me out the door.
Trouble is – looking online it states tennis elbow is very rarely accompanied by swelling. Also said it should be given complete rest from whatever hurt it. But I think mine is caused by typing and he told me to carry on as normal.
And I also don’t know if I can resume my gym activities that I paused over xmas and was about to start up.
Any help appreciated.

Tennis Elbow and Golfers Elbow, both are painful and both cause swelling. I have had several injections into the elbow to relieve the pain but it always came back. The only cure I found was Pilate’s exercise. The PT told me while I was face down on the floor to get up on my hands; which were directly under my shoulders and straighten my arms, allowing the weight of my body to press down through the arms. I explained I had Golfers elbow and was concerned. I was told that the choice was, do this exercise or put up with the problem for Life. So first I got up on my elbows and a few weeks later managed the position. After a few sessions the elbow problem is no more. Best of Luck
Compress your tennis elbow by wrapping the area with a tight bandage. This will help keep the muscle in place and stop its overuse. Or try searching for homeopathic remedies products that will help you to overcome tennis elbow naturally.
