arms sore from weight lifting, when is it good to do it again?
last wednesday i did stength training on my arms for the first time in about 6 months. starting last friday morning, i could feel the tendens where extremely sore on the inside of my elbow. so sore it was painful to fully extend my arms. now it is tuesday the following week. i still feel a slight bit of soreness but it is not painful. if i do the same routine on my arms today, it will not be painful. my question is: is it ok to do another arm workout today or is it too soon? i want to maximize my efforts and make sure my arms have rested enough.

you should do a body part once a week in the begininng of your weight training. Twice a week would be for very advanced lifters. Get big!
I would wait one more day then do our work again.
What is happening is after workout your body produces lactic acid in your muscles (which starts the growth process).
According to several body builders I spoke with, it’s best to wait until the soreness is completely gone before starting again.
Btw kudos for you.
You have over extended your tendons and strained them. This will be due to the fact that you had a lay-off in which time your tendons became tighter because they were not being used as much.
I compete in Judo and during training this sometimes happens to me. Last time it happened bad was because I was gripping and pulling too hard and I overstretched my tendons.
It sounds like they have began to heal so what you need to do is go back to the gym and do a light work out. You have had 6 months of and if you go steaming back in (which I always do) you will damage parts of yourself because they are not used to it. If you were were a marathon runner but had not trained for 6 months would you attempt to run a marathon? You have to think of it like that. Go today, do a LIGHT workout for your back, arms and chest, then have a day of and go back and do a little more. Keep up this routine and then before you now it you will be training like a demon again. Good Luck
if you arms took a week to heal, you are doing way too much. try doing less but 2 or 3 times a week
Hi K-Rob!
You muscles need about 48 hours of rest. As an avid bodybuilder for many years, I can tell you that your muscles are probably sore but not still repairing. The best way to loosen these up is to hit the weights again. Try it, your muscles will loosen up each day you do the exercise, just give yourself one day off in between for muscle rebuilding. However, you could work out every day as long as you work on different muscle groups.
I believe this answers your question, but if not, you may email me.
Good luck on your diet and fitness goals!

If you do it again today, then don’t go all out. This is a mistake people make when they lift for the first time in a while. If you go all out it shocks your muscles and tendons too much. don’t max out and do more reps on lower weight.
No, it is not too soon to workout again. Go ahead and do it. The reason your muscles are so sore is because of a build up of lactic acid. If they get too sore like you cannot hardly move them at all, a couple days rest like you did is needed. But if they are just tender today, go for it. The quicker you get back on the horse, the esier it will become…and the stronger your muscles will be. As you well know most likely, when you workout…you breakdown your muscles. You literally are tearing them down to be built back up stronger…keep going. When it hurts, keep going. If you need to take a break one day, do it. But no more than 1-2 days should be in between workouts if you want maximum results. I learned this from my husband who works out his arms a lot, and muscle builds. Also, get lots of protien and creatine into your body. Your muscles will need this energy! No amount of sugar or carbs will replace the energy protien can give you. Contact me if you want to know what my husband uses.
that just means they are repairing now
