Firstly, get yourself a yoga mat and start off doing 20 reps of sit-ups and push-ups. Secondly, got a dumbbell or a barbell? Use those and do 10-15 reps of bicep curls. This will gain muscle and will improve your strength. It will also help you exert a great amount of power. Lastly, run around the block or on a nearby football field at least twice a day. When you run around the block, you should run for at least 30 minutes. When your on a football field, run 2-3 laps non-stop. Running is such an important exercise as it helps improve your footwork and keeps your body fit.
To get a race horse ready, you slowly play with it’s tool. It excites the horse.
So…..
if you have the wii play wii tennis, it really helps. Dont just stand there and flick the remote, really get into the game. It also helps to play best out of three with somone else so it gives you some motivation. Also you can try yoga. Just look up easy yoga on http://www.youtube.com and watch some instructional videos.
Hope it helped and good luck on your tennis season.
run run run run and run
matches are a couple hours, so even if the other person is better, it doesn’t make a difference if they can’t last cause they are too tired
jump rope is also good alternative to running
also try getting one of these : http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3066253
use it while watching tv, or something. helps with forearm strength (which tennis players need) and does actually help
endurance training is always great to do. such as running on the treadmill or swimming laps
strengthen your arms by doing pushups
agility training by running backwards, crossovers, cones, etc.
flexibility training by doing lunges and stretching
leg strength by doing squats
actual practicing tennis skills, i’d go to a park where they have a wall you can hit balls off of, or go to an empty court and practice serving or dropping the ball and hitting it. better yet, a ball machine! xD
or get a friend to go with you and play games :]
good luck!!!
a few things u can do… firstly
sprinting is so important for tennis.. so practise running up and down the street
