How can you train your body to remember to keep your elbow towards your neck?

I’m doing shot – put and i’m haveing troubles with remembering to keep my elbow towards my neck when i go to throw the shot. Also i’m unsure if my body(upper arms ) are in shape.I’ve being practiceing for about 5 weeks now and i’m getting a little agravated. I’m a long distance runner, so my legs are fine.
