You can’t just automatically get a tattoo with parental consent. Your state laws have to allow for it, and it’s not legal everywhere. Wait until you’re 18, then you can do what you want.

most places wouldn’t let you get one at 16 even with parental consent.
you have to be an adult to get one, and being an adult means you have to be 18.
just wait the 2 years. you might not even want it by then.

most places are 18! i dont know anywhere that does it for 16! but you can get people to come to your house and do it and they dont mind what age you are!

You are too young to get a tattoo, I got all of mine between the age of 18-20 and I can honestly tell you right now, I wouldn’t mind getting them all removed. Tattoos are forever, if you still want it in two years then get. Its should be a testament to the tattoo you want. Besides I have never heard of a place that allows tatoos at 16 with permission from the parent.

First make sure you live in a state that allows you to even get a tattoo. Most don’t allow you until you are 18. Here is a link that tells your which states allow under 18 and what is required.

As for convincing her, the only argument I can think of is that they aren’t necessarily permanent anymore (well depending on the colors) and can be lasered off. Black and Red inks fade the best. Oranges and Purples usually respond well. Blue, Green and Yellow and White inks are the most difficult to remove, and sometimes don’t come out at all.

Also, make sure you choose a location that can be covered and not easily seen to try to appease mom.

in NJ and i think NY too state law is 18 no matter what. so check with your state about the law on it. most states are trying to go with 18 because of parental wars on one parent signing for it and something going wrong ect…

If you want it so badly and are sure you won’t regret it, then get it for your 18th birthday. Plus, having visible tattoos is bad for getting a job. Listen to your parents, and just wait two years. If you’re thinking "I don’t want to wait two years, I want it now because I like it now" then you definitely shouldn’t get it, or you WILL regret it by the time you’re old enough to legally get it.
