Hand numbness and elbow pain?

One or both my hands go numb when I’m playing video games, whether its a controller or handheld system. My right hand also goes numb the same way when using the mouse while playing games on my PC. I’m right handed. After I stop the numbness resides and i find the inner part of my elbows sore. It does eventually go away, within minutes.

I used to have these issues myself, however I looked into the correct postures necessary for use at a computer and many of the issues went away. Numbness occurs due to a lack of blood circulation and your body is telling you to fix the problem. At a computer for example your wrists and elbows should be elevated above the mouse and keyboard to allow gravity to assit rather than detract your body’s ability to circulate blood properly.

However numbness in the hands and arms can indicate much more serious implications, such as heart attack or stroke, and if you believe yourself to be at risk, I recommend contacting a doctor. On the other hand, if you believe the issu to be something related to incorrect posture, I recommend researching correct computer-use postures on the internet or through books at your local library. I hope this helps, and good luck!

I had the same thing over ten years ago, in both elbows and hands.. What I found out was that the ulner nerve that goes across the elbow was being pressed against my bone and caused horrible pain and numbness that started at my elbow and down my hands. I had to go to the emergency room one night when the pain was so bad, I couldn’t tolerate it. Long story short, I had to have surgery on both my elbows to move the nerve to the side. I was told that office workers who rest their elbows on a desk or truck drivers who rest their arms on the rolled down windows are prone to this ailment. I know you need to see a doctor if this pain persists, you may have nerve damage or if not that extreme have you noticed you are pressing down on your elbows, squeezing your nerve against your bone when playing? Position change might eliminate any further numbness.
