I'm guessing that yes it could take 6 months plus to heal. My foot took 6 months of physical therapy and a year and half to feel totally okay. You should talk to your doctor about working with a physical therapist. what they can do with you will really work and make it truly possible to avoid surgery. Patience is key here you need to have the patience to let it heal.

Edit: meant to say that I had tendonitis in my foot, repetative injury stuff like tennis elbow can be.

I have the same problem started in one arm, now in both but I was told by doc. there isn't a cure and it don't go away. I use a arm band but I can't wear it at work.. It is very painful and I figure i may as well get used to it. I take aleve and use asper cream every day and night

i have had a tennis elbow for years.
when the pain is bad i use a tennis elbow brace.
it is the muscle in the forearm which causes alot of the pain and restrict that muscles makes the pain diminish somewhat.
i have also tried rubbing it with a heat based cream which oputs warmth into it...goanna oil is good
