Joint injuries can be serious, painful and debilitating. If this doesn&#039;t go away you should probably see a doctor of physical therapist about it. You definitely shouldn&#039;t lift any more weights until this blows over.

You say you&#039;ve just started, so here&#039;s a few good things to keep in mind:

Always rest if you overextend yourself. It&#039;s not about doing it as often as possible. Ideally you should never do more than 2 sessions per week, and never less than three days apart. Even if you do more than that, try to space them out. 

Remember that the muscle doesn&#039;t grow while you&#039;re lifting, it just swells a bit. The actual growth happens over 2-3 days after the session, and doing another one too early really messes it up. 

Never, ever lift if your muscles still hurt.

Don&#039;t just lift again and again. You can get more benefit if you do sets and take a rest and a drink after each one.

Do it properly. Talk to someone who knows weights, there will be such people at a gym or if you&#039;re younger your PE teacher should know. Weights, more than most excercise, can badly injure you if done badly.</description>
