Stress (physical and other) can do a number on you, especially if you've had certain illnesses, rheumatic fever is one. You mustn't feel bad about this. I understand about the stress and illness part very well. You are taking very good care of yourself; that's a big plus. When you ache or are so exhausted you need to rest, take a rest. Hot baths are a nice help. Tea is very good, too. If you enjoy reading, find a book or magazine. Try writing. It can be something ridiculous. Do you have a DVD player or some way to watch a film? Find something funny to watch. I wish you well.

You mentioned you had rheumatic fever at one time...well it know sounds as if you might have an autoimmune condition - the rheumatic fever may have opened the door for this. there are many. many. autoimmune conditions, such as Lupus, MS, rheumatoid arthritis on, on........You should have more tests such as an ANA, sedimentation rate etc. Consider seeing a rheumotologist. Don't panic, rest when you can and seek more tests.
