severe sudden onset of multiple joint pain?
I am desperate to figure out what is going on with me. I am a 37 year old female and about a week ago I started gettig a sore and stiff feeling in my hips, it has progressed rapidly to my ankles (now slightly swollen) also my knees and shoulders and elbow joints. What could cause such pain in all my joints. I can not imagine it is arthritis at my age and so sudden. Could it be a pinched nerve or a virus? it seems to be the worse when i am laying in bed at night and unbearable when rising in the morning. I cannot sleep because of the pain. It does seem to get slightly better when I am up walking around. Any ideas?

I know how you feel!!! I can’t believe what happened to me. I was going to physical therapy for my back surgery and all of a sudden i started hurting on my hip and knee, just out of the blue. So i went to the ortho dr. and now he says i need a total hip replacement and i just had surgery on my knee to clean it up and repair torn ligaments. I am 48 so i guess these has happened from plain ole wear and tear. YOU CAN get arthritis at your age. And at night the pain does get worse. You need to get to a dr. and let them run some tests on you to get down to the problem….GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
acute onset rheumatoid arthritis seems the most likely.
Sudden onset would indicate an external agent, like a virus….strongly suggest you see a doctor.
sounds like something i had. it was a virus. after wrong diagnosis and antibiotics, my son got it, too. there was a lacy rash that went along with it. it was called fifth’s disease. look it up
