This is a long one, but please bear with me. I’ve got nowhere else to go!

So I’m 20 years old, and for the past few years I’ve had progressive joint and muscle pain. I was perfectly fine until I was 16 when I injured my back, and since then everything’s gone downhill. The injury healed normally, but since then it seems to flare up with inflammation every couple weeks or so and lasts a few days to a week. My hands were the next to go, I thought it was carpal tunnel at first, but it’s in both hands (I’m right handed), and I have pain in my pinkie and the outer part of my hand as well, which rules that out. Also my fingers are beginning to curve inwards and bulb out, if that makes sense My knees started acting up next. They just feel weak, kinda wobbly and they crack every time I bend them. Sometimes at night it feels like I have restless leg syndrome, but even moving around doesn’t help. Ankles are next. I injured them pretty bad a couple years ago, and I’m not sure if I broke or tore something, but if I’m on my feet too much they swell and get pretty painful. Elbows and shoulders after that. My shoulders feel like there’s heavy weights on them, and my elbows feel like I constantly have tennis elbow. Recently my entire body feels stiff, I’m starting to notice that the weather has an effect on how I feel. Dairy products, even calcium supplements trigger the pain. A lot of times my muscles feel like they’ve been strained, even though I’m usually in too much pain to do anything strenuous. I’m tired even after a full night’s sleep, and in the morning it seems like I have to force myself to get up. I was never this way!!

Here’s the thing- I’ve been tested for rheumatoid arthritis several times, and each time has come back negative. I’ve had tons of blood work done, and everything is always normal. I live in a small town, and every doctor I’ve been to tell me that it’s in my head, that it’s growing pains, one doctor even accused me of being a drug dealer trying to get pills to sell! They just don’t seemed concerned!

Has anyone ever had similar symptoms and gotten an accurate diagnosis? And would it be worth the long and agonizing six hour drive to see a fibromyalgia specialist or a rheumatologist? I just need an answer, 20 is too young to be feeling old! I know Yahoo Answers is the last place to ask for help concerning my health, and that no one on here can tell me exactly what it is, but I’ve got nothing else to lose. I’m at my wits end!!

Thank you for your help, and God bless!

I have recently had symptoms of what I think is carpal tunnel syndrom. Im getting some dull aching pain mostly in my thumb and index finger. They also have a slight burning sensation and the pain radiates through the center of my wrist and and acompanied by a tennis elbow type of feeling. The whole thing feels like a nerve pain. The only thing that took me by surprise, was how fast it came on. I have been doing medical transcription typing for about 7 months now. But I only type for a maximum of 2 hours a day and many times its not even that much. I know that typing is the number one cause of it, but it just didnt seem like I would get it from that much typing. I noticed about 2 weeks ago, my hands started to slightly ache from typing, but it would go away when i stopped. Then I feel like i woke up one morning and it just hurt, and ive had the pain for a little over a week now and its not improving at all. Does it sound like carpal tunnel for sure? If so, what can I do to improve it and also do you think its related directly to the tennis elbow feeling or would you think that is a separate problem?

Got it from over training 2 months ago, and I haven’t worked out since. Have been treating it with Pennsaid, Advils, ice, and rest. A few days ago I started to workout back, biceps, abs and legs, I also do some chest and shoulders, but nothing that involves the tricep. I still cant do any tricep exercises aka pushing exercises. I cant do any presses. Its been over 2 months and I am loosing muscle mass. How much longer till there is NO PAIN? Each week that goes by, the more depressed I get.

I CAN do kickbacks, but thats the only tricep exercise I can do…

I’ve been suffering from tendonitis in both arms for about 8 months now. I was a drummer. I played vigorously every day, and I played for my church on Sundays. When I was first diagnosed, my arms were very stiff and swollen. I could barely move them, so I rested them for about 3-4 weeks and iced them every day. Eventually the stiffness and swelling went away, and the pain mostly did as well. It would twinge now and then, and I was able to play for my church again with no problems (but when I would play my normal speed they would act up). Certain activities like basketball would hurt a little too, but not so much.

I went to a doctor and he said it was classic tendonitis and there wasn’t much he could do. He gave me a few print-outs of exercises and sent me on my way.

I started the stretching portion of the exercises about two weeks ago. right around then my arms started hurting constantly, with the smallest activities. Brushing my teeth, picking up a glass of water, getting dressed, typing.. EVERYTHING hurts now. I continue with the stretching but it doesn’t seem to be helping (it seems to be making it worse, really) and it warns against continuing to the strengthening exercises until stretching is nearly painless. Ibuprofen hasn’t helped at all.

I’m wondering, how long does it normally take for these exercises to help? Should they be hurting this much worse with just stretching? Is there anything else I should do?

I hurt my arm while playing tennis (when hitting backhand to be precise) and I’m pretty sure I have tennis elbow (all the symptoms fit). But even before it happened my wrist hurt a bit and I had restricted range of movement (for example it hurt when I bend it towards my arm or if I put pressure on it).

So I bought this tennis elbow support but I was wondering should I also buy the wrist support? Or would it be just too much? It’s all for the same arm.

The thing is I’m abroad so I can’t really be bothered to go to doctor so will be very grateful for any advice on that from tennis players / physicians.

Has anyone male or female been in a relationship where they had to maintain a certain sexual position that wasn’t comfortable in order for your partner to reach climax? I have this problem with my wife and don’t know what to do.

I have been with her for over 2 years now and sex with her is like a chore or like exercise most of the time (or some unpleasant combination of both). I basically have to maintain a push-up like position on top of her in order for her to climax. I have to do this for 45 minutes to 2 hours. I’m not talking about missionary position; it’s literally like doing push-ups. I haven’t had many sexual partner (I’m in my mid-twenties and have only been with 6 people), but I have always been told that I was a good lover and my penis is definitely larger than average. However it seems like there is nothing I can do that will have her reach climax besides this uncomfortable position. I try other things but she will basically guide me back into that push-up position.

I am a good actor I guess and always pretend like I enjoy it, but last night she caught me not enjoying it and she was upset. She was menstruating (and I don’t like having sex then), I’m getting over tendinitis in the elbow, and I had to stop halfway to take care of our crying infant. When I came back from taking care of our baby, I could not get back in to the act of enjoying it and she busted me faking (I know this is usually the woman’s job). Has anyone been in a similar situation, looking for advice and suggestions from both sexes? I feel like a creep talking about this kind of stuff (guess I am kind of a prude), but any feedback will be appreciated.

I’ve been working out, pretty steady for a month or so. I find that my joints are getting sore from my workouts (feels like tendinitis). I’m feeling it in my left elbow on a consistent basis. I’ve been checking my workout form, and everything seems to be by the book (no improper strain on tendons or joints). I take no supplements whatsoever, just good ol’ fashioned high protein/carb foods after my workouts. I hear that there are natural supplements out there that people take to prevent joint pain, but I dunno…I’m not a pill guy. Any suggestions on what I should do?

About 4 weeks ago i started to notice pain on the side of my calf muscle on both legs. Its almost like a bruise that you cant see.
And the the pain worsens with exercise instead of eases as the muscles warm up. My brother said it might be a shin splint but i have no clue.

Also, my ankle and knee joints have started to ache constantly.
I’ve had tendinitis on my elbow from throwing the football A LOT. So i was thinking that maybe i have a high risk for this and now that i started school sports (lots of running on an uneven football field) the other joints get tendinitis too.

Or is it possible that i have rheumatoid condition?

Also, with the ankle ache, when i start the warm up run, my ankle clicks for a while and its very uncomfortable.

Any possible diagnosis? Thanks!

I’m a pitcher and have been experiencing some elbow soreness recently. My physical therapist said it was tendinitis and I’ve been doing arm exercises and getting deep tissue massages. I pitched in a game two days ago and threw 30 pitches. During pitching my arm felt fine, but afterwards it hurt so I iced it. Yesterday it still was sore so I took four motrin and it feels great now. If the motrin keeps working I’ll take it but I was wondering if four was too many. By the way I’m 15 and I’m 6’0 tall and 205 pounds.

I believe I have whats called tendinitis in my elbows. Its not constant pain or anything but when I workout my triceps I notice the discomfort especially when doing skull crushers and triceps extensions with heavy weights (4 – 8 reps). I believe I got this from doing bad form with these exercises in the past.

What are my options to relieve this pain during these exercises so I can the best results from my workouts?

Best Answer:

Ok well I was diagnosed by my pediatrician a year ago that I had Medial Epicondylitis, or elbow tendinitis. I am only 13, and symptoms happened after I pitched in a baseball game. So I went to the doctor and he diagnosed me. Now it’s about 12-13 months later and im back to playing baseball. My elbow has been bothering me the whole year. It is my inner elbow by the way. I can throw, without harm, but after a while, I’d say after 15 throws, I feel the pain in my inner elbow again. I cannot pitch, my elbow feels really delicate and uncomfortable compared to my left elbow.

I have been doing physical exercises like pushups arm curls occasionally, and some Advil, and Aleve. Nothing really works, so I am kind of scared that I might need surgery for it. Is it risky? Like will I ever be able to play baseball again?

I do have mild pain when I make a muscle too.

I think I’m getting old. After years of activity my injuries are starting to build up. I have now had three knee surgeries, a shoulder surgery, a torn tendon in my foot and I currently have tendinitis in both my elbows. I got the tendinitis doing a set of bench presses with what was for me a heavy weight.

Consequently, I have decided to change my goals. I want to find a weight program that will work my entire body, will not cause injury or break me down and will allow me to remain active throughout the year. What are the exercises, how many sets, reps, how much weight, etc, should I do? Anybody have any good programs?

It would be an added bonus if you could come up with something that would work well in training me for mountain bike races during the Spring and Summer.

Thanks so much!

This summer my mom started feeling pain in her right elbow. Later her whole arm would hurt so the doctor said it was probably Tendinitis so she gave her a few exercises to do. Now her joints in her wrist, knees, ankles and toes sometimes hurt. Doctors still don’t know what it could be. Any ideas??
