I think I have either tendonitis or tennis elbow, see: (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20080430053217AAscdkL)

that being said, if the pain in my elbows is from a slight tear in them, when it heals, will it be stronger than before or will this be a recurring problem from now on everytime i lift?
another link in case the first does not work.

I suffer Tennis elbow for more than 2 years now. I have tried 2 different type of therapies (physio, cortisone injection) but it do not help. I also have a brace under my elbow when I play Badminton. It absorbs the tension….it helps but the pain still there. I appreciate if you can share with me how you cure your tennis elbow. Please do not cut and paste any article from the internet. I want to hear your own experience.
thanks

healed yet from surgery. I had tennis elbow surgery on both arms. My right arm was done first and is still a bit sore and my left arm is still not fully healed from the surgery and the doctor said I have to return to work in 5 weeks no matter what. What??? I guess I am not healing fast enough for him or something. My tendonitis is still active and I am still going to physical therapy twice a week. I don’t think I should be forced back to work before this is completely healed. Isn’t there anything that I can do?

You know what I’m talking about. That dreaded tennis elbow. Have you ever had any experience with this ailment or any sort of injury you sustained as a result of playing tennis? What caused it and what were the symptoms/signs you had this ailment? How’d you heal up?

hello i think i strained my elbow, my arm is just weak, but NO PAIN AT ALL, its like i have no strength on my arm. . anyways… my doc said it was no big, he was like dont worry about it, its not a tennis elbow, i think its just a strain. somethin like that. i think this is a big problem, because i play basketball, when i shoot, it kinda gives sharp pain in my elbow section, i cant really say its a pain, but still and the ball doesnt go that far because i have no strength of strained elbow. so i went to my doctor again, and he told me to take an xray of my elbow, the next day, doctor told me my elbow was perfectly fine, no break nothing. but i didnt get to ask him how long will it take to get my strength back. u think it’ll heal??? like get my strength back??

thanks guys.
so what ru sayin do i have tennis elbow or not?

i know i have tennis elbow because i have visited the doctor. the pain started about half a year ago, and only sometimes get better when i rest it. there was a period of time when i rested that arm and if did not hurt even when i fisted tightly and "mimed" lifting weights (now it hurts). but after i resumed gymnastics, the pain came back. the doctor recommended one to two weeks’ rest, but it does not solve the problem wholly. do i have to rest it for a longer period of time to let it heal completely?
also, will the performance and durability of the elbow in the future be affected by the period of time which i have tennis elbow?
lastly, my elbow cracks very often. i find that after cracking, the elbow is a little less pain. because i have had this condition for a long time, i found out a way to crack the elbow with the least pain. but the question is this: is elbow cracking normal and does it have any good or bad effects (long and short term)
I REALLY REALLY NEED HELP PLEASE!!!! thanks!

I had my first tennis practice 2 days ago (joining school’s team). Now my inner arm hurts. It’s like, when I touch my elbow bone and like the tendons on it, it hurts. I’ve only had one practice, and I’ve already gotten hurt. What a surprise.
Anyway, do I have tennis elbow? How many days will it take to heal? My next practice is this monday, but it’s optional so I don’t have to go. What should I do to get rid of the pain and the injury in general? Please help.
and the muscles in my forearm hurt. it’s the inner part, when you face your palm up. BTW, I play with my right arm and that’s the one that’s hurting. My left is fine, just a tiny bit sore.

Whenever I throw a punch my elbow clicks and hurts. I’m pretty sure it’s not from the way I punch cuz I know martial arts. But when I do the extension of the punch and straighten my arm it’s like my arm bends the elbow in. I have recently started working out weekly and could it be from an unbalanced amount of muscle or is there notxenough tissue or stuff between my bones?
Thanks I will appreciate any helpful answers.

i just got a cortisone shot yesterdat afternoon for my tennis "elbow", and within 1 hour my arm/elbow hurt wayyyyy worse than before the shot. 24 hrs later its killing me! The pain in unbearable..Ive been icing it, taking vicodin and still no relief. How long does this so called "cortisone flare" last. Ive got work to do, and I hurt so much!
I wish the doc would have told me of possible side effects..
5 wks.. is the pain from the shot, or your original existing pain?>

Tennis Elbow..I have burning sensation in my elbows and couple yrs ago it healed a bit?
cause i used a arm band and now it’s back again! surgery is not an option..what is??? i use Aleve to relieve the pain and I cannot do any weights for my upper body unless it heals…does it really take 6 months to a year to heal??? Anyone has this problem?
In the past I used glucosamine- chondritin 1,500 mg a day and it really helped it heal..but it has come back since I started to do upper body weights. I think i will just use my arm brace and not bend my arms and take care of it…

tendonitis of both arms and tennis elbow of both arms for 3 years. I have been going to physical therapy on and off for 3 years. The first year it started out in my wrist, so I went for physical therapy and it went away. When it came back the next year it went up my forearms, so I went to physical therapy and it went away. The third year it went to my elbows and I have been out of work since April of 2006. I tried therapy for 6 months as to try and rule out surgery. It did not work this time so I had both arms operated on. I had the tennis elbow surgery done arthroscopically. I have been going to therapy twice a week since April of 2006. My right arm was operated on November 06 and my left arm March 07. I am still going to physical therapy. My right arm was doing well for a while and is acting up again, and my left arm, although has gotten somewhat better, refuses to heal. My doctor told me that he is sending me back to work without restrictions at my next appt. I know that I will further injure myself if I do.
This is a workers comp case from an injury at work and my lawyers can’t do anything against what my doctors say. So my question for you is, why am I not healing as fast as the doctors believe I should be? And is there something else that I could have where maybe I was misdiagnosed and that could possibly be the reason that I am not responding to the treatment that I am getting? The pain has moved to the inside of my elbow joints now and is traveling back down my forearms in the pain of tendoinitis again. I am very distraught about this. I feel I have done everthing I could possibly do to cure this problem. They have never given me and MRI even when I asked for one. I need to find a doctor that will listen to me and not worry about stepping on another doctors "toes" and really hear my concerns. I don’t want to end up totally disabled, I want to be healed. What should I do? I really don’t know what to do anymore. I just want my arms back so I can go back to my normal life.
My questions are these: Is there something I can have besides what they are saying? Is there any other treatment that can advance my healing? Will an MRI show things that might have been missed? How do I get a doctor to listen to me? Why am I not healing as fast as they "think I should?" I really need advice from a professional in this area. I am not messing around, I am not trying to stay out of work, I am being honest with my concerns and I feel like nobody cares. Please help!!!
In response to Mystify’s thorough and helpful answer, My pain started in my right arm and my left arm followed. It is a repetitive injury I incurred at work from typing all day which I believe to have been a poorly set up work station.

I have been taking 600mg of Ibuprofen once per day to try and deal with tennis elbow. I have been doing this for almost a year now. I have also been taking 20mg of Celexa per day since 2006. I have never had any stomach issues of have I noticed any side effects. I feel relief from the tennis elbow now for the most part. Questios are: Can 600mg per day for a 51 yr. old male in good health do any physical harm to me? By the way, I do not drink alcohol. Also, how much does the Ibuprofen (if any) interfere with the activity of my Celexa? I am considering stopping the Ibuprofen because I believe it has help my tennis elbow. However, if the tennis elbow returns and it turns out that Ibuprofen is not good for my situation, is there something else that I could take for it? I am already aware of elbow bands or braces that help without taking a medication but I have not found one that works and or that does not come off while I am doing physical work.

I currently have a pain in my elbow and I have decided to let it rest. It’s almost been 2 weeks since I have played tennis, but my elbow surprisingly is still hurting. I was wondering what should I do to help it heal? and when it does heal, how do I make it stronger so that it won’t be injured again and when I do start playing, should i buy an elbow brace?
