Two weeks ago, I awoke with severe pain in my heels. They were bright red, and I couldn’t walk on them or even touch them – they were sore like a severe bruise. Ice and ibprophen helped marginally, and with some rest the pain went away completely. I also had joint pain in my knees, ankles, wrists, and elbows which has become more severe and persistent since the heel pain has gone away. It moves around, but it is always in most of those joints. It has been severe enough to interrupt my daily activity. I am taking between 12 and 16 ibprophen per day, and now my knees and ankles are swelled (my ankles are bigger than the balls of my feet). My elbows and ankles are sore to the touch like a bruise, as well as stiff and achy. My father is a microbiologist who thinks that I have a virus that has settled in my joints. I just started a new job, so I won’t have health benefits for 120 days. I am concerned, because I am 25 and have been healthy my whole life. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be or how to deal with it?

I had a huge basketball tournament yesterday, and I scored a buzzer beater in the final, and of course, we won.
But anyway, I am sore all-over. I can hardly walk because my knees are killing me, and I have a huge bruise on my elbow from a fall.
Unfortunately, I have an even bigger volleyball TOURNAMENT tomorrow, and my team needs me.
Any recommendations, remedies, suggestions?

For the last 4 months the area near my elbow has been not only been painful and sore but also at times turns purple, as if I had a bruise but only when its sore. Also i cant hold my arm straight down by my side when it becomes painful if it is exposed to the sun at all. It also seems like my veins become more visible in the afffected area. I would really appreciate any insight or suggestions anyone could offer so that I can figure out what this is.

A few days after this happened (she poked around alot!), my inside arm from the wrist to the elbow was all sore, like it was bruised but with no bruise showing. It’s now over a week and getting no better. It’s almost like I can feel my sore vein there! Is there anything I need to worry about, I mean could bacteria or anything gotten in there. Mind you, no blood was drawn from that site – She got someone else to do it on the other arm and I feel nothing over there. I’m just not sure if I should have it checked out or not. I know the soreness is definately from the attempt, but don’t know what could be wrong. Thanks for any input.

About 4 weeks ago i started to notice pain on the side of my calf muscle on both legs. Its almost like a bruise that you cant see.
And the the pain worsens with exercise instead of eases as the muscles warm up. My brother said it might be a shin splint but i have no clue.

Also, my ankle and knee joints have started to ache constantly.
I’ve had tendinitis on my elbow from throwing the football A LOT. So i was thinking that maybe i have a high risk for this and now that i started school sports (lots of running on an uneven football field) the other joints get tendinitis too.

Or is it possible that i have rheumatoid condition?

Also, with the ankle ache, when i start the warm up run, my ankle clicks for a while and its very uncomfortable.

Any possible diagnosis? Thanks!

I was on the floor putting some books on a low shelf. When I brought my arm down after shelving a book my elbow (kind of on the upper side of it) hit HARD on the corner of a large plastic box which has a sharp corner.

The pain wasn’t like hitting my funny bone, it was much worse. I swear it brought tears to my eyes and my whole arm went numb from the elbow to the tips of my fingers.

What I want to know why do my wrists and fingers hurt bad now too? My elbow is really sore. It hurts to bend it out all the way and honestly the pain just type it bad. I have a bruise now showing up where I hit it.

Any idea what’s wrong?

Oh & YES I will watch out for plastic boxes now and I won’t type anymore! lol

This happened a week or so ago. One day, my left elbow got sore and stiff. It got progressively worse quickly to where I couldn’t straighten my arm. It was like that a couple days.

On about the third day, I noticed swelling and bruising around my elbow. That lasted a day or two, and then went away. It’s completely back to normal now.

I’ve searched the ‘net and can’t find anything that causes all that–especially the bruising part. I didn’t hit my elbow on anything, fall or anything like that.

My job is pretty repetitive with arm motions, but I use my right arm more often than my left. I do have stiff, achey joints in other parts of my body at times. Could it be arthritis? That wouldn’t bruise, would it?

I welcome any and all guesses. :) Thanks very much.

I see these questions all the time and I realize that there is no way an internet audience can accurately say whether or not your bones are fractured. But I am just looking for opinions on whether I should wait it out a little longer, or just suck it up and get an x-ray. I really hate having to wait for hours at the doctors though to just have them say that its a sprain and I need to ice it.

Anyway, on to the problem. We have this evil cable cord lying on the ground that I have been bugging everyone in the house to help me figure out how to get it out of the way, well yesterday (it was still laying there evilly) and I tripped over it and fell forward. I put my hands out (instinctively, and obviously since that is the natural reaction) and my left elbow made this loud popping sound and I doubled over in pain. Well today I have no swelling, and both elbows are sore but my right elbow is not even a concern since its not even comparing to my left elbow. It hurts right where the radial head attaches to the elbow joints if you touch it, and when I straighten or bend my arms it is also painful. But here’s the deal, it is very painful but its nothing compared to the pain I felt when I broke my arm so I am wondering if its just a torn ligament or a fractured radial head. Like I said, there is no swelling, but on the opposite side of my elbow there is a very small bruise there. I have no deformities. Do radial fractures generally hurt really bad? If they do, then I am not concerned.

Also, if it turns out to be a radial head fracture what do they do? Do they just splint it? If that’s the case I already have a sling I can use, so I would rather save my insurance for something more important then just wasting my entire Saturday to have them tell me to sling it and ice it.

Sorry for the super long, boring question! ^_^ Any comments would be greatly appreciated though.

I play baseball and I pitch. But according to my friend, I threw straight over the top last year, for both playing catch and pitching, but now this year says that I throw a little sidearmed for catch and still over the top pitching.
A few weeks ago, I pitched and left the game, and the next day, there was a slight pain, feeling as if it was just under my elbow, like there was a bruise on it, but didn’t hurt when I pressed on it. Only when I threw again or any other rapid arm movements.
I rested for about 2 weeks, and it got a little better, only I had summer tryouts yesterday. Right after I played catch and long toss, it came back as strong as ever.
Okay, so if this is tennis elbow (maybe b/c my throw is like the motion of swinging a racket), tell me. If you also know any treatments that do not relate to surgery or pills, please inform me of that as well. I heard you should rest it and ice it, but is that the best thing to do? It might be, but I don’t want to pitch and tear it, forcing me to do surgery, if my healing process is not complete.
So please. I don’t want to waste my baseball days while I’m still young. I’m only 17, and I don’t know if this should be happening. Please tell me the most effective way of self-treatment and how long it will be until I can safely throw a baseball hard again.
Thanks.
