I play tennis once or twice a week. Now I have this tennis elbow pain. I had 2 cortisone shots, the last one lasted only a week then the pain is back. What else can I do to take off this pain. Should I have surgery?

I’ve been to a cranky orth Dr. twice in the last year. He’s given me cortisone shots twice, and diag as lateral epiconodilitis (tennis elbow.) Also x-rayed it. Everything is clear. But the inflammation just doesn’t want to seem to go away. I’ve tried everything, including following his instructions. Maybe it’s time for a new doc. It gets stiff mainly in the morning, and was wondering before I try a new doc should I try heat, rather than ice?

This started about 2 months ago in mainly my hand and fingers. It extended to my wrist, then forearm. My primary said "tennis elbow" and gave me a cortisone shot. It didn’t help and I’ve had lots of cortisone shots in my hand and wrist over the past several years. He sent me to an orthopaedic who said it didn’t seem like carpel tunnel but had me tested. The nerve conduction test and EMG testing for pinched nerves and nerve damage came back fine. Now he wants me to see a neurologist to rule out MS. No other symptoms that I can think of. The muscle weakness has now started in my upper arm. It hurts to type at work, brush my teeth and even drive. (It’s my dominant arm.) Any thoughts?

I have suffered from chronic tennis elbow and golfers elbow in both arms for almost a year. For some reason I am not healing. 5 cortisone shots did not work and now I am on percocets and oxy contins. They take the edge off but do not take the pain away. The mornings are a nightmare because I am so stiff and seized up that I am in instant tears. I feel alone and frustrated. This is a work related injury and workers compensation doesn’t know what else to do with me. I was in physiotherapy for 8 months andwasn’tt even able to start strengthening exercises because Icouldn’tt straighten my arms. Workers compensation is now enrolling me in a pain management program. Has anyone ever been to one of these programs????I am 36 years old with two kids and my life is limited. Simple things like turning on the kitchen faucet in the morning is unbearable. Is anyone else dealing with this kind of situation???Please talk to me. I feel alone.
