My father recently has experienced pain in his elbow. He says that there is pain at the meeting joints of the humerus and radius. He says it only hurts in the muscle; his skin is fine. He does not know whether his bone is damaged or not however. He says he may be experiencing tennis or golf elbow. Nevertheless, I would like to make sure. Finally, are there any cures or homemade remedies? He wants to see a doctor but is lacking the money. Is there anything that can lessen the pain or cure it? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
I’ve been practicing martial arts and my arms seem to be getting a lot stronger and faster but my elbow joints aren’t getting stronger with my the rest of my arms. I need strong elbows to be able to handle executing fast punches. Does anyone know any good exercises that could help?
For the past month my elbows have been really sore. they usually start to get sore during wrestling practice, or during workouts. Now its about everything. even throwing a football for a certain amount of time causes them pain. its like a piercing pain in my elbow joints. once the pain starts, it continues if i continue what ever im doing, and still continues for an hour after i stop. its gotten so bad that at some points, i cant even bend my elbows up, feels like im carrying 200 pound dumbells. i dont know what is wrong with them. is this normal? or did i tear something in my elbow joints?
yes, both elbows lol.
i went to dive for the ball in volleyball and collided with another girl, i immediately got a sharp dull pain that felt horrible and my coach said he heard it pop, the next morning when i woke up i had intense pain all the way around my elbow when i straightened it, and the muscle that is on the pinky side but close to the elbow joint still hurts, and what makes it worse is when i keep my arm on a hard surface, it makes it real sore to move it and when i keep my arm bent for a little while its hurts to straighten it, and also when i straighten my arm and just put my hand down i get a sharp pain in my elbow joints, Do you know whats wrong and should i go to the doctor?
I have a laptop, and I use it to do work and chat. I dont have a desk so instead of sitting and humping my back I lay down and rest on my elbows, but after sometime they start hurting bad. why? and what should I do?

Ok my 9 month old American pitbull terrier puppy has been up to date regarding her health (vaccines, dewormers) daily brushing, monthly bathing, daily exercise on grass (fetch) and daily walks for an average 30-45 min. I noticed these small red skin inflammation of some sort near here front elbow joints they aren’t fully visible they have hair over them but you can still see up close and from a short distance some redness from her skin at that place. They aren’t bumpy feeling they’re dry and a bit crusty looking and she isn’t in any pain when I feel them or with any type of movement. Im wondering if they’re sores of some sort or something serious regarding skin or joint problems. I have a few pictures so please any help would be appreciated. Most likely i’ll have her seen by a vet soon if they resume. Thank you

I’m doing a report for my Anatomy class, and I keep reading up on hyperextension, but what i can’t figure out is what does it do to the joints specifically? Do the ligaments stretch too far? Is there pressure between the humerus and the ulna? (Are there ligaments between the humerus and the ulna? I believe yes, but I can’t find a proper diagram.) Also, if there are any diagrams of a hyperextended elbow (also can’t find those) that would be an enormous help. Thank you!
My Chocolate Lab (Ginger) is 10 y.o. and has had mod-severe arthritis in both front elbow joints for several years. Ginger’s vet and orthopaedic surgeon has prescribed Mobic and now Tramadol, but neither has made a difference. Since Ginger is nearing 10 y.o., I’m trying to avoid surgery. Ginger’s very happy, but her limp is getting worse and worse. What can I do?
I am a male in his early 20s who is new to weight lifting. I have never “worked out” before this stage in my life. I have been lifting weights every day for about 4-5 weeks now. I probably have only taken 6 days off total. To keep my body from wearing down, I have been alternating the days when I work out upper and lower body (like my buddies have told me).
Within the last week I have noticed that I have been experiencing a pain located around my elbows. The pain is usually at its worse right after I do bicep curls. The pain continues after I leave the gym. I go home and find it painful to fully extend my arm. This pain in my elbow joints keeps me from opening my arms to full capability. For example, when I reach my arm out to grab something, a sharp pain is felt in or around my elbow joint.
I asked a few weight lifting friends what the problem could be. They said they have never heard of this happening before and I should take a few days off. I took 2 days in a row off and the pain disappeared but returned when I began lifting again.
HERE IS MY MAIN QUESTION. Am I putting myself at risk of elbow joint injury? OR am I simply feeling the pain of a new set of muscles being worked that I have never worked before? Am I actually feeling pain in my bones or is this just sore muscle pain that I need to overcome to get stronger?
If it helps, the pain is felt directly behind the pointy bone that appears when you bend your arm (located on the upper arm, not the hand/wrist lower half of the arm).
Thanks!

I am desperate to figure out what is going on with me. I am a 37 year old female and about a week ago I started gettig a sore and stiff feeling in my hips, it has progressed rapidly to my ankles (now slightly swollen) also my knees and shoulders and elbow joints. What could cause such pain in all my joints. I can not imagine it is arthritis at my age and so sudden. Could it be a pinched nerve or a virus? it seems to be the worse when i am laying in bed at night and unbearable when rising in the morning. I cannot sleep because of the pain. It does seem to get slightly better when I am up walking around. Any ideas?
I see these questions all the time and I realize that there is no way an internet audience can accurately say whether or not your bones are fractured. But I am just looking for opinions on whether I should wait it out a little longer, or just suck it up and get an x-ray. I really hate having to wait for hours at the doctors though to just have them say that its a sprain and I need to ice it.
Anyway, on to the problem. We have this evil cable cord lying on the ground that I have been bugging everyone in the house to help me figure out how to get it out of the way, well yesterday (it was still laying there evilly) and I tripped over it and fell forward. I put my hands out (instinctively, and obviously since that is the natural reaction) and my left elbow made this loud popping sound and I doubled over in pain. Well today I have no swelling, and both elbows are sore but my right elbow is not even a concern since its not even comparing to my left elbow. It hurts right where the radial head attaches to the elbow joints if you touch it, and when I straighten or bend my arms it is also painful. But here’s the deal, it is very painful but its nothing compared to the pain I felt when I broke my arm so I am wondering if its just a torn ligament or a fractured radial head. Like I said, there is no swelling, but on the opposite side of my elbow there is a very small bruise there. I have no deformities. Do radial fractures generally hurt really bad? If they do, then I am not concerned.
Also, if it turns out to be a radial head fracture what do they do? Do they just splint it? If that’s the case I already have a sling I can use, so I would rather save my insurance for something more important then just wasting my entire Saturday to have them tell me to sling it and ice it.
Sorry for the super long, boring question! ^_^ Any comments would be greatly appreciated though.

Hi i’ve been having this problem when playing tennis only when i’m serving, and only when i try to serve hard. My elbow joints start to hurt. A lot of people say you’ve got a tennis elbow, but i don’t think it is. My elbow just hurts when i try to serve really hard, if i serve softly i don’t feel pain and i don’t feel it when i’m doing my forehand or backhand, and the pain goes away after a day.
Could anyone tell me what kind of symptoms this is and what i can do to stop it.
All my joints crack, and I know there’s nothing wrong with that.. But, After I carry something heavy; my elbow kind of pops/like dislocates a little bit. It hurts, and it happens often. If I’m carrying my books or anything. A lot of the time it’s stiff, and it kind of feels like what I think arthritis might feel like.
I told my mom, since it’s been happening for a while, and she’s like it’s just tennis elbow. But I barely have any symptoms of that. It’s not bruised or swollen or anything.. I get sharp pains in it sometimes.. even if I’m doing nothing.
It was especially sore during softball.. which I’m sure may have been the cause..
But what can this be?
Sorry this is so long…
Again.. it’s not swollen, so I’m not going to take an anti-inflammatory
As a result of long term weightlifiting I have developed tendonitis in my elbow joints. The pain got so bad I could no longer perform any upper body exercises. I haven’t performed any in six weeks, and with every attempt (even with lighter weght), I still feel discomfort… In my research I have seen no long term remedy except cortizone shots in the affected joints or doses of anti inflamatory pills; I don’t like either option…Anyone out there with a similar problem ? Have you tried anything that works well to get one back to normal?
P.S.
I a have also been taking Glucosamine/Chondroitin capsules for about 6 weeks, and I feel no measurable relief .
i started lifting weights yesterday and today my elbow joints are very sore when i go to extend out my arm, particularly my left one (my right one isnt too bad)
am i doing something wrong or is this part of making my muscles stronger
and is there anything i can do to make it go away faster so i can start lifting again?
thank you
its been 2 weeks now since i had strained elbow. im not even 100% sure if i have strained elbow or not. because my elbow has no strength feels like my elbow joints are loosend. but no pain on my elbow at ALL. lol, i know its strange…. what is this???
and is strained elbow same thing as tennis elbow??
will this heal?? if yes, then how long will it take.??
thanks guyz.
tendonitis of both arms and tennis elbow of both arms for 3 years. I have been going to physical therapy on and off for 3 years. The first year it started out in my wrist, so I went for physical therapy and it went away. When it came back the next year it went up my forearms, so I went to physical therapy and it went away. The third year it went to my elbows and I have been out of work since April of 2006. I tried therapy for 6 months as to try and rule out surgery. It did not work this time so I had both arms operated on. I had the tennis elbow surgery done arthroscopically. I have been going to therapy twice a week since April of 2006. My right arm was operated on November 06 and my left arm March 07. I am still going to physical therapy. My right arm was doing well for a while and is acting up again, and my left arm, although has gotten somewhat better, refuses to heal. My doctor told me that he is sending me back to work without restrictions at my next appt. I know that I will further injure myself if I do.
This is a workers comp case from an injury at work and my lawyers can’t do anything against what my doctors say. So my question for you is, why am I not healing as fast as the doctors believe I should be? And is there something else that I could have where maybe I was misdiagnosed and that could possibly be the reason that I am not responding to the treatment that I am getting? The pain has moved to the inside of my elbow joints now and is traveling back down my forearms in the pain of tendoinitis again. I am very distraught about this. I feel I have done everthing I could possibly do to cure this problem. They have never given me and MRI even when I asked for one. I need to find a doctor that will listen to me and not worry about stepping on another doctors "toes" and really hear my concerns. I don’t want to end up totally disabled, I want to be healed. What should I do? I really don’t know what to do anymore. I just want my arms back so I can go back to my normal life.
My questions are these: Is there something I can have besides what they are saying? Is there any other treatment that can advance my healing? Will an MRI show things that might have been missed? How do I get a doctor to listen to me? Why am I not healing as fast as they "think I should?" I really need advice from a professional in this area. I am not messing around, I am not trying to stay out of work, I am being honest with my concerns and I feel like nobody cares. Please help!!!
In response to Mystify’s thorough and helpful answer, My pain started in my right arm and my left arm followed. It is a repetitive injury I incurred at work from typing all day which I believe to have been a poorly set up work station.
i’ve been playing tennis, and when i serve my elbow starts to hurt. It’s the elbow joints that hurt, every time that i serve. Is this the symptoms of a tennis elbow??
i’ve also tried all the tennis elbow exercises on the internet, and all it’s doing is stretching the muscles around my elbow, i doubt it’s gonna help.
tell me what i can do.
