Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, causes lateral elbow pain for more than just tennis players. Any repetitive motion of the wrist and forearm can cause this painful elbow condition. We will talk about common causes, the structures involved, and some great exercises to help you get out of pain.

We use Active Release Therapy to treat and resolve your tennis elbow pain. The pain is a result of scar tissue and degeneration within the muscles and tendons which enable your wrist to extend back. This is a motion required during your tennis swing. The scar tissue and degeneration is caused by overuse and repetitive motion. THIS HURTS! What hurts…: Elbow and forarm. How you hurt it…: Not sure, maybe carrying armloads of heavy clothing for long distances, setting up tradeshow, lifting heavy objects. When you hurt it…: 4 monthsago. Your pain level (1 is low, 10 is high pain): 9. Your age and overall health…: 52 good health. Any other information you feel is relevant…: Loss of strength in arm and hand. Lifting objects with injured arm impossible. Painful when front of elbow is bumped. Sometimes burning sensation for no reason when arm is at rest. Starts in outside front of elbow area and radiates down to the hand. Cannot bear any wieght when pressing down on this arm, very painful. YOUR INJURY COULD BE… Tennis Elbow REHAB YOUR INJURY BY… Stretching: Straighten your elbow and pull your hand straight down. Hold the stretch for 15 seconds and release – do this 3 times. Go to the point of pain and not beyond – more is not necessarily better. Make sure you stretch both directions. Massage: Massage straight down and across the tendons that are sore in your elbow area. Use circular motions, apply deep pressure along the tendons and as it becomes less sore you may go across the tendons. You can do this yourself or have someone else do it for you. Massage all the way down to where you feel your pain. Use lotion to reduce ‘sticking’ on your skin. The pain should be less. If it is not, then you may be applying too much pressure. Icing: 15 minutes for 2 to 3 times per day, with at least one

I have a very weird case. I used to have big shoulder problems, but I worked it out. Now, when I start to throw, I have a lot of pressure and tension on the inside of my elbow. But when I don’t do any throwing for like 15 minutes my arm feels good as new with no pain whatsoever. Anyone know what this means or how to fix it?

Hi All,
I recently started kickboxing and hurt my elbow punching the heavy bag. Well it’s been hurting for about a week and I don’t know what to do about it. Is it tennis elbow? And what should I do? Sometimes I can barely straighten it without pain. There is no swelling. I do find that taking an Epson Salt bath tends to help. Should I see a doctor?

I have had pain in my arm for about 4 months now, On the very day I went to the doctor, there was harldy any pain at all, but now, it seems to be pregressively getting worse.I have read about tnnis elbow and frozen shoulder onlie, and can’t determine if its either of them, but, movements like putting your arm into the sleeve of your coat or taking a jumper off and having to cross arm over head are very painful. I do type alot, (on here!), but, thought that woud of made my wrist ache if anything.Anyone any suggestions on what it could be.Doc said it was tennis elbow and to take paraetamol. . . they dont make any difference at all, and now, its making me wake through the night.Help, any suggestions, apart form cutting it off!

I have a nagging bit of elbow pain that is only prevalent when doing a pressing exercise. About 2 weeks ago I did some heavy bench presses with pins set about 6" above my chest – thus working the top portion of the lift. Since then, doing bench press with any reasonable weight is excrutiating. It’s getting better, but still painful. The elbow has no redness or swelling and is not sore to the touch, but when pressing, it ACHES to the point where I feel weak and have to stop lifting. I’m fairly certain it’s neither tennis nor golfers elbow, but am confused as it’s a pretty complicated joint. Any ideas??

Also, pulling exercises (rows, deadlifts) also aggravate it, though not to the same extent.
The pain is only felt when the bar is closer than 5-6 inches to the chest.. both down and up

Im pretty sure i dislocated my elbow. I cant fully stretch it out or bend it. My wrist hurts a little but besides that nothing else hurts.

- Can it fully heal with home treatment? How long would this take?
- If the doctors put it back, how would they do it and how painful?

I have 2 Wilson nTour Two 95′s. One is strung with Technifibre Pro Red Code 17 gauge (strung at 55). The other is strung with Technifibre NRG2 18 gauge (strung at 58). My elbow hurts every time I play with the 18 gauge, but never with the 17 gauge. I have used the Technifibre before, but only in the 17 gauge. Is the livelier feel causing my elbow pain.

I have the above mentioned type of pain only on the LEFT side, starting from the back of the head-shoulder joint-elbow. Pain has never extended beyond the elbow. Started six months ago. There is also increase in pain through the months since the start. I am inactive most during the day only walk inside the house and do not involve in any exercises. There is slight reduction in pain if i do involve in walking or work. I feel that the pain is only in ONE of the above mentioned areas and not all places at a time. I have experimented while sleeping through the months and found that I have less pain while sleeping with my left shoulder down on the mattress and fall asleep. Sleeping on the back or turning to the right is painful and i can’t fall asleep. I never spend more than 1-and-a-half hours at my computer everyday. I am sure that i have not sustained any physical injuries in the area. I am 61, weigh 90 kg (198 lbs), 5ft 8 in (173 cm) tall, right handed, heavy built man. I’m not diabetic and recent ECG results have shown that my heart is in very good condition.
My past medical history includes a successful lamenectomy ( or laminectomy) surgery in the lumbar spine area 5 years ago. I have completely recovered from the same.
I have furnished the best details i know about my problem.
Please help me and give me advice.
