Although I’m only 5’3” (on the short side), my weight is pretty much in check – I checked out my BMI and I’m very close to being underweight, but that’s not the problem..

For the last month, I’ve been pretty inactive. I wanted to exercise and be in shape, but I’ve just been really lazy and relaxed quite a bit. My jaw muscle (?) has been hurting recently, and random muscles in my elbows, or thighs or the one connecting my calves to thigh muscles (behind the knee), and my gums in my mouth…

This is bad, right? How do I make myself feel better (exercise releases endorphins?) but without a whole lot of commitment, I don’t want to have to hit the gym for like an hour everyday – I’m just a teenager so I have school and other things to focus on.. I play tennis, but that won’t be regularly possible, if at all, at least for another month. :(

i went on a fishing trip for 3 weeks, it was fine, nothing strenuous, but now that i got home, i have very sore ancles and soles of my feet (at the heel, the pain comes from underneath) very sore wrists and elbows, sore chest muscles, sore throat, and red spots all over my palms. now i have not done anything that would normally cause sore joints, this has occured 4 days after i got home, i have not done much since, just unpack and tidy the house, i am 18 also.

what might be causing this?

I’m 15, and since I was about 10 I’ve been getting 24/7 discomfort in my joints.

First it was only my wrists, but now its starting to spread to my other joints (ankles, knees, elbows). I have to crack them/roll them around for the discomfort to stop for a second and then it is painful again. After about 30 minutes exercise they hurt like crazy and I have to stop.

I don’t do any intense exercise. I’ve been exercising the same for years (tennis, jogging, swimming) and I play piano. I have a healthy diet, and while the pain never is extremely bad and doesn’t affect any other part of my body, its just constant, always there.

What do you think it could be? Thanks!

First off, i started lifting weights when i was 15 1/2 i got started lifting august of 2009, lifted for about 6-7 months and then i first started getting pains in my elbow. I took a week off, returned the next week and was fine. Couple months later it returned slightly, the kind of pain that just kind of aches to where your uncomfortable, and it would only happen when i was sitting or laying around. I lifted a little through it but lowered the rate of my exercises, and it eventually came back then too. Got to be summer 2010, and i tried p90x, i made it through phase one but i couldnt make it to the recovery week of phase one (3 weeks into the program) and my elbows were in agony.

I didnt lift for a month and a half and i went to the doc. He said it was tennis elbow, and told me to wait a little while before i start lifting again. After the pain subsided (1 month and a 1/2), i started back with low intensity to work my way up. Everything was going good. Started doing weight training at school august 2010 and after we maxed out on the second week, my forearms and elbows were hurting.

I went to the doc again and he said he thought my tendons and ligaments around my elbows were just inflamed from maxing out on bench press, and incline bench press. took 2 weeks off, with a very powerful anti inflamatory and i was fine. Got to be a month and a half later, it was bothering me slightly so i took a few days off and i was ok. Now we get to december of 2010, we were getting out for christmas break and we would have a 2 week vacation, so i tried to do a little more than usuall so i’d get a little more muscle growth over the break.

That was the 20th, well my elbows and forearms started bothering me that evening, i waited until the 23rd and they were still bothering me a little, but i done a little workout at home with my at home equipment. And they’ve really been bothering me. I havent lifted at all, just worked my job. My job consists of scrubbing, painting, sanding, and fixing up a house. I’ve been working that job since the end of september of this year. It seems like my joints are aching. My shoulders, my biceps (slightly), my tricep where it connects to my elbow some, the top of my forearm (where tennis elbow would be), and my elbow joint was hurting.

It just snowed here on christmas eve, we got 6 inches so i was wondering if maybe the cold weather had anything to do with it or if it was something more serious.

Can someone please help me out. I don’t understand why I’m aching so much now but i wasn’t at this time last year if it has to do with weight training.

Pelican, I’m aching all over my arms right now. Basically i kinda have a little pain in my shoulders, sometimes throughout the day my bicep will be sore, occasionally my triceps, but i can really feel it on the outside of my forearm where my tennis elbow was, and on the back at the elbow joint. My shoulders is either between the trap and shoulder on the back of the shoulder.

Basically its a “weak feeling” if you will and almost feels like i’ve had a hard workout and my elbows are the same and the top of the elbow feels like a bruise but there’s no bruising there.

For the past 2 years, with it getting worse the last 6 months, I have pretty bad pain when walking, with stiffness and swelling in my knees, hips and ankles. My fingers are also stiff and achy and I also have pain in my elbows. Walking, bending is getting worse. And climbing and coming down stairs is very difficult. Although some days seem worse than others. Also, my toes seem to be deforming and I have pain in them as well. What could be wrong with me?

I’ve had tennis elbow for some time now from military training. I’m out of the service now, and have rested my bicep for 8-10 weeks doing physical therapy and all the necessary things, but it’s still just as bad. Please do not recommend medical treatments (i.e. cortisone or resting). My question is if anyone knows of bicep/shoulder workouts that do not put too much strain on my elbows. Curls seem to only worsen them, and shoulder press is out of the question. Any WORKOUT ideas will be greatly appreciated, as not being able to lift weights and only doing cardio has caused me to lose nearly all of my hard earned muscle mass. Thanks in advance.
Correction: I’ve rested my elbows, not just biceps.

Okay I have a bunch of uniform shirts and they go down to my knees, and the sleeves are at my elbows. I have three days until it is time to wear them, how do I get them to shrink FAST?? (They are all %100 percent cotton, but not the soft cotton like your favorite shirt, but stiff, icky cotton.) Other than putting them through the washer?

HELP!
No, I am going to wash them, I was just wondering if there were any other tips that people had instead of washing the shirts. I already know that washing them on high heat will shrink them, just looking for anything else!

I feel tension when I do the hundred and a few other exercise but afterward I am not sore. The only exercise that makes me sore is the modified crunch where you touch your elbows to knees. Also do those ab exercises where your just leaning or stretching or pulling your knees towards you really work?

I’ve hit 37 weeks and my joints are starting to separate in preparation for the birth. Great for my pelvis but not so much for the rest of me! I feel about 80 years old — my knees creak when I walk, my elbows are in agony when I bend them, my finger joints hurt so much I can hardly squeeze things and in general I’m sore!

I know that it is normal, I’m not concerned about it being something unusual. I’m just wondering if anyone has any remedies (old wives tales welcome!) for easing some of the aches and pains? Have googled it and read through all of the regular pregnancy websites and am coming up with nothing.

Any suggestions or anyone want to share what worked for them?

I always scrub them in the shower with shower gel and a loofa, and i use plenty of lotion. I’ve even tried vaseline lately. They’re not dry or dirty, but they always look that way. How can i get my elbows to look lighter and more clean?

I woke up this morning to find that my elbows, knees, ankles, and fingers are all really sore. They hurt almost every time I move them. I am 13 years old and I have never had a problem like this before. Everything was fine yesterday, but not today. Does anyone know what might be the problem?

I have a habit of bringing my shooting hand over to my guide hand instead of bring my guide hand over to my shooting hand, so when I shoot, my elbows aren’t straight and I sometimes miss often, does anyone have advice or know of a website that helps on keeping your elbow straight when shooting, cause I’m really not getting used to it.

My husband has cardiomyopathy. Is it normal for these symptoms to be related to this disease? Knuckles hurt on feet & hands, hurting wrists, hurting elbows, hurting knees and hurting ankles. So we know it’s a "joint thing". He also complains about his muscles of his calves and thighs hurting…or at least being sore and tender. It takes him a minute to get off the couch. Two weeks ago, I awoke with severe pain in my heels. They were bright red, and I couldn’t walk on them or even touch them – they were sore like a severe bruise. Ice and ibprophen helped marginally, and with some rest the pain went away completely. I also had joint pain in my knees, ankles, wrists,and elbows which has become more severe and persistent since the heel pain has gone away. It moves around, but it is always in most of those joints. It has been severe enough to interrupt my daily activity. I am taking between 12 and 16 ibprophen per day, and now my knees and ankles are swelled (my ankles are bigger than the balls of my feet). My elbows and ankles are sore to the touch like a bruise, as well as stiff and achy. My father is a microbiologist who thinks that I have a virus that has settled in my joints. I just started a new job, so I won’t have health benefits for 120 days. I am concerned, because I am 25 and have been healthy my whole life. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be or how to deal with it?

I am 14 years old, and have eczema, it gets very bad in the summer around my stomache, back of knees, and the inside of my elbows, and it is bikini season, and i want to not have people staring at my blotchy red spots all on my body. On Wednesday, I worked out for the first time in a couple months. I didn’t stretch very well afterwards because I was in a hurry. Yesterday I was pretty sore as expected, but this morning the muscles around my elbows are killing me. I can’t even extend my arms all the way out.

First of all, how do I know if it’s just sore or if I actually hurt myself?

Second, what is a good way to deal with this? Do I try stretching a bit now, or will that hurt it more? Will pain killers help until my muscles heal?

I am worried that it could be beginning stages of RA. I have limited my salt in take to almost none. I have been drinking a ton of water. I have been laying down through out the day. Nothing is working and it is very uncomfortable and almost painful. What should I do? Help…
