This summer my mom started feeling pain in her right elbow. Later her whole arm would hurt so the doctor said it was probably Tendinitis so she gave her a few exercises to do. Now her joints in her wrist, knees, ankles and toes sometimes hurt. Doctors still don’t know what it could be. Any ideas??

I know this is something I should be going to the doctors about, which is why I am going to the walk in tomorrow. But anyways, Saturday I woke up and my hands and feet were swollen, I had to pry my rings off and my sandals wouldn’t fit my feet were so swollen. Through Saturday my feet were swollen and began to hurt. By the end of the day all my joints were sore my wrists, fingers, elbows, hips, knees, ankles and toes. Everything feels like they have been over worked. My feet hurt like I have been standing on them all day and walking all day. I can’t make a fist without a tight feeling. All my muscles feels sore and over worked. Keep in mind I’m 20 and have a job where I am moving a lot (but not to a point where I have ever hurt in 3 years). My family and friends say its either rheumatoid arthritis or from not drinking enough water and my body retaining water – thus the swelling. I dunno, it just gets in the way because everything hurts….doing anything is uncomfortable. Last week I did get a TB shot and don’t know if that’s some sort of side effect?

My knees are terrible, moreso my right one. Whenever I bend them, they crack. If I make a bicycle motion with my leg, my right knee cracks every time and it feels terrible. I can’t keep it bent for long periods of time (thats what hurts the most), especially when I’m sitting "pretzel style". I constantly feel like I have to straighten my leg when I’m sitting down, and I really never noticed I do it quite often until recently.
I’m only 17 years old! Freshman year I had a stability brace on my knee for a while, but I don’t remember the doctor every saying what exactly was wrong. That or I just don’t remember.
I really haven’t been paying much attention to this because I have tennis elbow and radial tunnel syndrom in my right elbow and I’ve been going to therapy for that and may have to have surgery soon! I don’t even play sports =/ but I guess the elbow can be from being a musician. But not the knee!!
Anyone know what might be wrong? It hurts mostly on the outside. =/

My hands are always freezing, people wont hold my hands because their so cold. And i get really sharp, shooting pains in my hands and in my joints, my joints also "crack" or "pop" alot, whenever i get up i’ll pop in my knees, or elbows, or my hands. Which is all fine and dandy except that I’m 14.

My high school tennis coach has us do an exercise for conditioning called "Iron-man" and basically what it is, is we hold a push-up in down position except we get to keep our elbows on the ground. We have to hold it that way for a minute, sometimes a minute and a half, keeping our backs straight. My coach says this is good for the abdominals, and that may be true, but I am also wondering if it is bad for the back because I KNOW that lunges (another thing that we do) is bad for your knees, and there may be a strong possibility that the Iron-man is bad for your back, because I feel tension when I do it. Any thoughts?
Is this exercise bad** for the back. Sorry I didn’t realize I spelled back twice. My bad

Well I jus jokin around with my ex and his brother and friends and everything and we’re still friends and everything but i took his tennis ball and like ya kno when you get arrested how they have your arms when you are handcuffed thats how he has my arms and everything then he grabbed my leg and made me fall on the concrete knees first and my knee is like badly bruised and is scraped then i got up and walked away and he walked after me and grabbed me and pinned me on the ground and sat on me, i tryed elbowing him but he held my arms back and he wouldnt let me up and he was cussin me out, then he pinned my arms above my head! Do you think a guy should treat a girl this way even when he is mad?
BTW i’m 16 and so is he.
My friend who was with me jus stood there sayin she would kick him but never did and his brother was bein protective of me but he didnt step in and alls he did was push my friend bac when she tryed kickin him. im not sure what set him off or anything but it made me pissed off. he tryed apologizing but i didnt want to hear it because i was so mad. what stunned me was, was that he said that he would never hurt me!
Today when I went down there to talk to his brother who I am good friends with, he was constantly apologizing to me and everything and asking me to forgive him and he said that he hated himself for it and everything.
This is the first time he has ever done something like that, which is what stunned me! He is naturally a very happy person and doesn’t like to be mad or have anyone mad at him,i just didn’t think he would dare do that to me. That is the first time he has ever laid hands on me,too!

I am desperate to figure out what is going on with me. I am a 37 year old female and about a week ago I started gettig a sore and stiff feeling in my hips, it has progressed rapidly to my ankles (now slightly swollen) also my knees and shoulders and elbow joints. What could cause such pain in all my joints. I can not imagine it is arthritis at my age and so sudden. Could it be a pinched nerve or a virus? it seems to be the worse when i am laying in bed at night and unbearable when rising in the morning. I cannot sleep because of the pain. It does seem to get slightly better when I am up walking around. Any ideas?

For 5 weeks now I have had severe joint and body pain mainly in my hands, elbows, shoulders, back of my knees sometimes my hips and bottom of feet and toes. Every morning I wake up with a very sore and swollen throat and lymph nodes hurt and are swollen. I’m extremely tired I can hardly function some days. I have had all sorts of blood tests and they all came back normal except the ebstein barr virus test was a bit high but the doctors told me to not worry about that. I saw a rheumatologist he says 50% chance i have rheumatoid arthritis. I don’t wanna believe that or find it hard to believe because of the sore throat and extreme tiredness to and the swollen lymph nodes in my neck. I’m so fed up the doctor aren’t helping, they have me on prednisone a steroid and it only works a couple hours a day then i’m in chronic pain again. I’m a single mom with two boys and I can hardly take care of them or even dress myself or take care of me. I’m so desperate to find out what is wrong with me. Can anyone help. What do you think it could be. I’m taking all sorts of vitamins nothing helps. HELP PLEASE!
I’ve had no fever. Just the symptoms listed.

my hips, knees, wrists, elbows and shoulders. Recently this started when I began a new exercise video. I expected my knees, but not the others. Actually, I haven’t even watched the video in days because of my pain. It’s dull, but continuous. I don’t want to go to the doctor about it, unless it seems absolutely necessary. I have had tendonitis in my wrists before and bursitis in my hips. I’m still in my 20′s. Are there any professional opinions out there?

Doctor gave him antibiotics and said it was ‘tennis elbow‘ but those are not the symptoms of tennis elbow – antibiotics seemed to help a bit but he’s now run out of them and it’s come back! he does not play tennis or use that arm for anything more than the other arm – he is fit – a runner – but it’s his elbow that is giving him trouble, not his knees as I would expect! can anyone explain this or suggest a treatment?

We’ve all heard about tennis elbow, and many of us have suffered from it. In reality, it is a form of tendonitis brought on by the frequent, repetitive motions involved in playing tennis.
Tendonitis, however, is not limited to the elbow or arm. It can occur throughout the body. Any activity which places stress on the same tendon can cause that tendon to become inflamed and sore.
Tendonitis can be either acute (i.e. a temporary flare up) or chronic (i.e. long lasting). When tendonitis keeps recurring, it is called chronic tendonitis.
Tendons are composed of elastic-like tissue which connects our muscles to our bones. As we age, tendons tend to lose their elasticity through normal wear and tear. From time to time, a tendon will break or tear and scar tissue forms in the healing process. Scar tissue is not as flexible as tendon tissue and frequently causes pain and inflammation with continued use and motion. Most often the areas affected are elbows, knees, ankles, shoulders and feet.
Obviously it’s these parts of our anatomy that see repeated use during the course of a normal day. As we continue placing strain on an injured tendon, it doesn’t have an opportunity to heal which, in turn, leads to chronic tendonitis.
Age is only one of the underlying causes of chronic tendonitis. Athletes who are highly trained and in superb condition can also suffer from chronic tendonitis. Again, it is the repetitive motions required by a variety of sports that cause the condition to erupt. For example, repeated motion of the golfer’s swing or a pitcher’s throwing arm in baseball over the course of time can cause weakness in the tissue and lead to inflammation of the muscles and tendons. This is why it’s so important to do stretching exercises and warm ups prior to strenuous activity.
Left untreated, things can only get worse. Both acute and chronic tendonitis sometimes will result in a tear or rupture of the tendon. In this case, the physician will probably prescribe surgery, but only after more conservative measures have failed.
Acute or chronic tendonitis can cause mild to severe pain. In its simplest and most conservative approach, treatment will involve analgesics such as ibuprofen and resting the affected area. Depending on the severity, your physician may conclude that you will benefit from an anti-inflammatory medication and may prescribe cortisone injections. This is an effective, and powerful anti-inflammatory medication that helps to reduce the pain and swelling and promote healing of tendonitis. Treatment may also include mild stretching exercises in order to keep the joints flexible.
Just a word of caution is in order. Corticosteroids can be injected but they do not come without risks. One of their side effects is that they can weaken the immune system or infection can appear at the injection site. Again, It is critical that the tendon be given time to heal or more serious tendon injury can occur. And, as mentioned, surgery may be required in cases of tears or ruptures in order to repair the damage and relieve the pain of chronic tendonitis.
Natural Pain Relief for Tendonitis
Tendonitis can be very painful, and if you’re a chronic tendonitis sufferer, you’ll be looking for natural pain relief. The best pain relief is rest, until the tendon mends, but this is not always possible.
