I am currently being treated at the chiropractor, using heat and massage and stretching exercises for the muscles, but I still feel the pulling lightly, but it is better than it first was. I want it to heal and I took a break from exercise or lifting or anything taht would involve pressure to that area, but I do have to work and do normal things like typing, writing, opening doors, etc. Will this heal as I do not want it to permanently be this way? Thanks!
Also, how long does it take to heal fully? Is it unusual that I’ve had this about 3 weeks already?

Hello, I’m 16 years old and a basketball player. Anyways, here is the story, it was like a year ago, I would play basketball every. One day, I shot the ball, and here comes the "oh shit" moment.. and it happened.. it wasnt painful but.. I dont know.. but I kept shooting, so I guess it wasnt painful much. Anyways, I didnt really pay attention to my injured elbow, but everyday, I could feel that my arm was getting weaker, but I ignored it. I stopped playing basketball but instead i played video games. But I iced my elbow while playing it. Wow I cant believe its been a year since I got the injury.. I’m really confused about my injury.. my family doctor says its elbow strain, but 1 of my massage threapist say its tennis elbow. and another one of my massage threapist say its elbow strain..and people on yahoo say I torned my muscle or tendon! Which I dont think so. My doctors and MT say I didnt torn my muscle..Ok lets say its a strain. but why is it taking so long time to heal?

I’ve read that it comes from repeated overuse of your arm but I do not do anything that I can think of that would strain it. In any event, I’ve tried ice packs, Aleve, Arnica, massage, elevating it, etc. which all work– but only temporarily. I keep hoping it will go away on its own (just like it came) but I’m losing patience. When my chiropractor works on my shoulder, I can feel pain in my elbow so am wondering if it’s my shoulder that’s been pushed out of place via an adjustment. I’d be interested in hearing from anyone with experience and/or expertise in this area.

i played alot of video games and basketball over the summer. i sat on a little chair when i was playin gears of war. for several hours. and one day. i felt a weakness on my dominant (right arm). after that i couldnt really shoot cuz my arm was weak. first i thought it was tennis elbow but it wasnt. 2 months later i still had this problem. so i went to physical therapy. the massage lady told me it was back muscle tissue damage. she said that it was the blood blockage of my arm. so the blood really didnt flow cuz i had this tissue damage. she said that it’ll heal. i know that. i get soo frustrated cuz my arm is fuckin weak!!! my left arm is stronger than my dominant arm!!! i cant fuckin shoot. i know its gonna heal but i havent done any treatment for my back for 2 months. am i gonna get 100% strength back? i feel a little better now cuz i know what the problem is causin my arm weakness. when she was massaging my back i felt a bumpiness on my back. she told me thats where i damaged.
Alternative, traditional tennis elbow treatment methods:
Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation
Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation or TENS is a therapy designed to reduce the pain experienced from tennis elbow, the procedure involves applying a small electrical current to the affected area, TENS supposedly works by stimulating the nerve endings, thus reducing the pain experienced due to tennis elbow.
Another theory suggests that electrical stimulation produces endorphins that help reduce the pain.
Again there is not scientific data to support either claim, and people might experience pain loss due to placebo more than anything else.
Vibration therapy
Some people have claimed to have achieved reduction in pain, by having the affected area being gently vibrated. Again this may or may not work for all people and such is not a conventional technique in treating tennis elbow.
Massage
By directly applying calculated pressure in small circular motions, the affected area can experience greater blood flow, and the muscles may relax. However messaging the affected area might be painful sometimes, in which case no further message therapy is recommended.
Manual Therapy
Often called body works, manual therapy involves a trained professional carefully exercising the injured parts, and actually attempting to fix the marginally displaced bones, or tendons back in there place. This technique is often confused with replacing dislocated joints back in their sockets, manual therapy has nothing to do with the surgical technique just mentioned.
The idea behind manual therapy is to slowly mobilize the elbow, and to improve the blood circulation in the elbow. The over all effectiveness of manual therapy in the treatment of tennis elbow is yet unknown, however many people have reported to have been positively affected by manual therapy.
Irrespective of the techniques involved, if a patient feels that he wants to try therapy that is not in medical terms conventional, or feels that conventional medical techniques are not working for him. Then he could try one of the methods that are listed above, but he should be aware that some of the techniques listed might do more bad than good.
If you’ve tried any or all of the above treatment methods for tennis elbow but are still suffering, don’t give up hope! I have taught thousands of tennis elbow sufferers to beat tennis elbow using a simple, step-by-step tennis elbow treatment program from the comfort of home without any special exercise equipment. I urge you to act today and get started with my tennis elbow system. You’re tennis elbow will be gone in a lot sooner time than you thought!
