Okay, so I’m in physical therapy for my left should and on the 4th the pt had me riding the bike and i felt this pain on the right side of my back, like right where the should ends i think. Last week I started Tennis, again, and my right shoulder was a little sore.
Other symptoms, I’m not sure if they go along with this or not: really bad headaches, a tingling in my right elbow (which i know most likely is something with nerves), pain/tingling in right shoulder, a sharp pain in my right forearm and i get tingling in both of my knees, mostly my left though.
Thanks…I went to my doctor today and she told me it was some muscle but she ignored the whole tingling in my knee which really annoyed me because even if its not connected to this its still a problem but whatever Thanks!!

I have been having wrist pain for years now and im only 19 y/o. My doc diagnosed me with a torn ligament in my wirst 4 years ago, but i went to a hand specialist and he couldnt find anything wrong. So he ordered a mri, xray, nerve conduction test, emg, and mri with fluoroscopy. All tests normal. But now i am having pain in my forearm, my other doc said its tennis elbow. I am going to physical therapy now. But that seems to be making it worse. My p.t said i have an extremely tight tendon in my wrist and tight muscles in my forearm near my elbow. She massaged that for a while and gave me some exercises to do. This was last monday. Since then i have been waking up i excruciating pain in my elbow, where i cannot move it or make a fist. The top of my hand, thumb and wrist is very sore and weak. It almost feels stiff. Sometimes i have burning and throbbing sensation. The pain is radiating into my fingers and on the palm of my hand at the base of the thumb. Im not sure what to do. I cannot sleep cuz the pain is incredible. I am really fed up with this. What can I do?? Should I see another hand surgeon?? I have had 2 cortizone shots and those did nothing. I have also had 3 casts on my wrist. I am very upset. And all this typing does not help. Could someone please help me?? Writing, typing, and gripping aggravate it, but lately ive been have pain at rest…. Please help… Thank you so much

I’ve had tennis elbow for some time now from military training. I’m out of the service now, and have rested my bicep for 8-10 weeks doing physical therapy and all the necessary things, but it’s still just as bad. Please do not recommend medical treatments (i.e. cortisone or resting). My question is if anyone knows of bicep/shoulder workouts that do not put too much strain on my elbows. Curls seem to only worsen them, and shoulder press is out of the question. Any WORKOUT ideas will be greatly appreciated, as not being able to lift weights and only doing cardio has caused me to lose nearly all of my hard earned muscle mass. Thanks in advance.
Correction: I’ve rested my elbows, not just biceps.

I am tired of it hurting it hurts to write, and play my tuba. There are times when i am almost brought to tears because it hurts so bad. I would go to the doctor agian but i have kind of lost faith in them. I injured my elbow in February during school vacation. I thought it was bruised so I figured it would eventually heal. I work in a school kitchen and do a lot of heavy lifting and repetitive motions. My elbow had become more painful as time went on so I finally got it checked a few weeks ago. I did not file it as a workmans comp issues because I injured it at home and chose to work regardless of the pain. My doctor diagnosed me with Tennis elbow and said to stay out of work for 3 weeks, got a cortizone shot and will have physical therapy. He said it was important to rest the arm. I sent in this dr.s note but work forced me to go see their workman comp drs who are not allowed to say no work but light duty. Basically, light duty how they put it means I can perform none of my regular job duties except wipe down counters as I cannot use my left arm. They also said it is not work related but a personal injury that will not recieve workmans comp. Fine with me I never intended to do the workmans comp thing because as I said…it was a personal injury. I have 17 days of sick time and planned to use it to rest the arm..MY dr.s orders. My boss says I can go back to work tomorrow and then said well he can tell his boss that he has an employee that refuses to go back to work. I will literally sit there and do nothing which is not faiir to the other 2 employees that have to do the a 3 person job while I sit and watch. Is this legal? Can he force me back since I have a doctors note. Whose doctors note is the one to go by..their doctor or mine since it is not work related?
It is a personal injury and I gave them a note from my doctor stating I could not return to work until further evaluation by him. My sick days are earned and I am allowed to use them for personal sick time or family sick time. Isnt this in the lines of the medical leave act? They had no cause to send me to another doctor as it is not a work related injury.
Basically, he is not asking me to perform duties I can do. He is asking me to go to work and do nothing but sit there. I know some may say hey go for it but I have been in the opposite situation where we had our 3rd person sit there and do nothing and it was very hard on 2 people doing a 3 person job. Why not just follow my doctors orders and give me the earned medical leave that I have acquired and was told to take by my doctor?

I used to be an avid weight-lifter in high school, and still dabble every now and then. Later in high school (it must have been very gradual) I noticed that my arms would not unbend all the way. I would actually laugh about it with friends, because it didn’t seem like a big deal at the time, and I figured it was just from working out and having developed muscles. Now, roughly ten years later, my elbows hurt when I lift anything even mildly heavy (groceries, my son, etc.). It is a burning sensation in the elbows, and if I lift something significantly heavy the pain might persist on and off throughout the day. It aches pretty bad, and almost feels like the elbows need to pop but cannot. I have been told by a family doctor that this is probably tendinitis, and he would recommend physical therapy if not for me not having health insurance. He suggests searching for "elbow exercises" on the internet. Does anybody have any experience with dealing with/curing this problem? Apparently is it quite curable. I would love to be able to get into weightlifting again and do simple chores without my elbows aching so badly. Any suggestions or similar stories are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

here’s my situation.

i have tennis elbow real bad. i’ve had it for about 3 yrs now but in the past few months, the pain has gotten unbearable.

i’ve already been in and out of physical therapy twice and have had 3 cortizone shots and neither worked. so i went to the doctor and told him that i think it’s time for surgery and he agreed.

but the problem is it’s a workmen’s comp issue and it has to go through approval which takes about 2 weeks to get. so i have to work in the meantime.

my job is very physical and requires alot of use of that arm. so having to work with this bad elbow is like torture but my job insists that i work 7 days a week.

they know my predicament and they know i’m in severe pain but they don’t care. when i try to explain it to them that i’m in pain, they kinda brush my off with the "suck it up and stop whining" attitude.

now here’s the worst part. meanwhile, i’m watching able bodied people getting days and weekends off and getting sent home early due to lack of work. but for me, instead of sending me home on slow days, they look for trivial things for me to do. doing "lighter" jobs is actually worse because it requires more movement and use of this arm.

am i in the wrong for being angry about this?

my sister recently did something to her arm while in a tennis tournament, my sister has been to 3 different doctors
#1 said – a fractured shoulder
#2 said – an inflamed elbow
#3 said – 3 inflamed nerves one in her wrist, another in her elbow, another in her shoulder as well as carpel tunnel syndrome

the 3 doctors have tlked about it but none of them can seem to agree, it has been about 2 weeks and she has been attending physical therapy 3 times per week, it is getting so bad she can hardly move/lift her arm without it hurting, can anyone recommend good doctors in Fairfield County, Connecticut
also last night she was in my room and she fell asleep for about a half an hour because we were watching a movie, she fell asleep with her stomach on the floor, but when i woke her up for her to go back to her room, she tried to push herself up using her arms, she had abousolutely no strength in her arm and culdn’t push her self up

Overuse injury in my elbow! PLEASE HELP!!!?
I have an overuse injury in my arm. It’s little leaguers elbow. I need to know how to treat it (more than RICE) and how I can repair it. Will physical therapy help me at all? I am just finishing up my track season (I throw shotput, javelin and discus) and soon I will be participating in softball. I’ve been told not to do it but I really want to. Every time I throw I get an intense pain on the medial side of my elbow. I love sports and I would absolutly hate to give them up but if I have to I will because I want to be able to play tennis in the fall.

PLEASE HELP ME!
I’ve tried braces for my arm but they mess up the way I throw.

Thanks for all the help!

have had bad lower back pain for about a year now and the doc has done xrays and urine tests and says nothing out of line? I ALSO have Tennis elbow, which really hurts! Have been on Vicodin 2/day, sometimes I need 3 or 4 and then i have to suffer other days because I am short on my script. I usually get them refilled every month with just a phone call. Now after a few months not seeing him, he wants a physical before he fills anymore. When I see him, should i tell him I need more than 2/day? Last time I seen him, he refered me to pysical therapy, but I cant afford that and dont have the time during the week to go. I recently got a script for vicoprofen from my dentist due to an abcess tooth and when the tooth problem was gone, i utilized the extras to help with my back. BTW- would that be considered doctor shopping? cuz i have two scripts.. ALSO does anyone know what physical therapy costs, because my insurance dont cover it.
Thanks

healed yet from surgery. I had tennis elbow surgery on both arms. My right arm was done first and is still a bit sore and my left arm is still not fully healed from the surgery and the doctor said I have to return to work in 5 weeks no matter what. What??? I guess I am not healing fast enough for him or something. My tendonitis is still active and I am still going to physical therapy twice a week. I don’t think I should be forced back to work before this is completely healed. Isn’t there anything that I can do?

tendonitis of both arms and tennis elbow of both arms for 3 years. I have been going to physical therapy on and off for 3 years. The first year it started out in my wrist, so I went for physical therapy and it went away. When it came back the next year it went up my forearms, so I went to physical therapy and it went away. The third year it went to my elbows and I have been out of work since April of 2006. I tried therapy for 6 months as to try and rule out surgery. It did not work this time so I had both arms operated on. I had the tennis elbow surgery done arthroscopically. I have been going to therapy twice a week since April of 2006. My right arm was operated on November 06 and my left arm March 07. I am still going to physical therapy. My right arm was doing well for a while and is acting up again, and my left arm, although has gotten somewhat better, refuses to heal. My doctor told me that he is sending me back to work without restrictions at my next appt. I know that I will further injure myself if I do.
This is a workers comp case from an injury at work and my lawyers can’t do anything against what my doctors say. So my question for you is, why am I not healing as fast as the doctors believe I should be? And is there something else that I could have where maybe I was misdiagnosed and that could possibly be the reason that I am not responding to the treatment that I am getting? The pain has moved to the inside of my elbow joints now and is traveling back down my forearms in the pain of tendoinitis again. I am very distraught about this. I feel I have done everthing I could possibly do to cure this problem. They have never given me and MRI even when I asked for one. I need to find a doctor that will listen to me and not worry about stepping on another doctors "toes" and really hear my concerns. I don’t want to end up totally disabled, I want to be healed. What should I do? I really don’t know what to do anymore. I just want my arms back so I can go back to my normal life.
My questions are these: Is there something I can have besides what they are saying? Is there any other treatment that can advance my healing? Will an MRI show things that might have been missed? How do I get a doctor to listen to me? Why am I not healing as fast as they "think I should?" I really need advice from a professional in this area. I am not messing around, I am not trying to stay out of work, I am being honest with my concerns and I feel like nobody cares. Please help!!!
In response to Mystify’s thorough and helpful answer, My pain started in my right arm and my left arm followed. It is a repetitive injury I incurred at work from typing all day which I believe to have been a poorly set up work station.
