Okies,I asked a q like this before, but my problem is getting a bit more serious @ this stage. My right elbow is SERIOUSLY swollen for the past 2/3 months, and nobody seeme to know whats wrong with it!!=( I’ve gone to a really good orthapedic doc,and he said it was prob bruising or bleeding, and put me ina sling and prescribed anti-inflamatories. So that was grand and we went off, thinking my arm would be as-good-as-new. We made an appt. to see him again after 2 weeks, but my arm was not any bit better. He took x-rays,but they showed no fracture. This was really annoying, because the doc just laughed because he was hiding the fact that he was confused. He said to come bac to him in a few months if I wasn’t getting better. During these months,I was in another hospital, and another doc saw me and he took more x-rays and, again,it showed no fracture. He put it down to tennis elbow, and gave me steroid injections. He said that I’d be better in a few weeks with using the anti-inflamatory gel we have
but the swelling has NOT gone down any bit. I started going to physio, and she doesn’t have a clue whats going on either, but she feels there is something seriously wrong with it. I really don’t know what to do now,and I am in soooo much pain, and the pain is even worse when you don’t know whats wrong with you. We are making an appt with the original doc,but I have a feeling he will say rest, and anti-inflammatories and painkillers(which don’t work anymore)
but I HAVE rested, and done everything I can,but nothings helping!! I really wanna get it sorted,so do you people have any suggestions?? I really need help, its been going on for the past 2-3 months, and I wanna get rid of the pain!!
Please help me,any answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
I doubt its an infection, because I’m not felling more unwell than usual lol,and its not red or anything, but it is radiating heat..???
And ‘singlegal’,thanks, and I have arthritis too,I’m 15. But I will keep trying, and doctors have dismissed me alot too, even in other things, like my ACL,its torn and they said it was something completley different! Thanks a mill.
‘indiarulz’…I would if I could but I can’t. Sori! But I shall describe it: the bone running along the top of the arm(radius?) is 1-3inches more up than on my other arm,and because of this,it looks like it is bent. The bone on the back of my elbow seems quite swollen also…did that help?? oh,and instead of the lower bone in my arm sticking down a bit,it is sticking up into my arm, like its kinda disappeared…

I’ve started to experience pain in my left elbow when I bend it inward towards my body, but the weird thing is, I don’t even use it when I play tennis. I have a one-handed forehand and a one-handed backhand, both using my right hand. I’ve never experienced any pain before in my right elbow, but I’ve been experiencing pain in my left elbow for some reason. I play everyday for about 2-3 hours, so maybe fatigue? Not sure…

Can anyone help?
I don’t garden, haha x]

My knees are terrible, moreso my right one. Whenever I bend them, they crack. If I make a bicycle motion with my leg, my right knee cracks every time and it feels terrible. I can’t keep it bent for long periods of time (thats what hurts the most), especially when I’m sitting "pretzel style". I constantly feel like I have to straighten my leg when I’m sitting down, and I really never noticed I do it quite often until recently.

I’m only 17 years old! Freshman year I had a stability brace on my knee for a while, but I don’t remember the doctor every saying what exactly was wrong. That or I just don’t remember.

I really haven’t been paying much attention to this because I have tennis elbow and radial tunnel syndrom in my right elbow and I’ve been going to therapy for that and may have to have surgery soon! I don’t even play sports =/ but I guess the elbow can be from being a musician. But not the knee!!

Anyone know what might be wrong? It hurts mostly on the outside. =/

There is very pain and I can not lift any weight even mug to bath. I attended my doctor who advised me Nucoxia 90 (Etoricoxib 90) 1 OD for 14 days and SWD 10 minutes for 6 days at affected right elbow. There was some relief for few days but again the position is same due to which I am unable to do my routine works. At night on sleaping, the arm becomes heavy and painful.

I weight train regularly from 2-3 time a week. The injury occurred when I was using of those fitness wheels ( wheel with a handle bar on each side) and on the first rep my right elbow (primary arm) seized up with stiffness and pain. I’m only 22…could my injury be tennis elbow?

Its been about 2 weeks now and the pain come up every now and then during the day, though less severe.

If you were ever active in wrestling its the same pain you get after doing a lot of pulling, from take downs etc. Sharp pain on the inside of the elbow.

Any help from someone with experience in this area would be much appreciated!

I see these questions all the time and I realize that there is no way an internet audience can accurately say whether or not your bones are fractured. But I am just looking for opinions on whether I should wait it out a little longer, or just suck it up and get an x-ray. I really hate having to wait for hours at the doctors though to just have them say that its a sprain and I need to ice it.

Anyway, on to the problem. We have this evil cable cord lying on the ground that I have been bugging everyone in the house to help me figure out how to get it out of the way, well yesterday (it was still laying there evilly) and I tripped over it and fell forward. I put my hands out (instinctively, and obviously since that is the natural reaction) and my left elbow made this loud popping sound and I doubled over in pain. Well today I have no swelling, and both elbows are sore but my right elbow is not even a concern since its not even comparing to my left elbow. It hurts right where the radial head attaches to the elbow joints if you touch it, and when I straighten or bend my arms it is also painful. But here’s the deal, it is very painful but its nothing compared to the pain I felt when I broke my arm so I am wondering if its just a torn ligament or a fractured radial head. Like I said, there is no swelling, but on the opposite side of my elbow there is a very small bruise there. I have no deformities. Do radial fractures generally hurt really bad? If they do, then I am not concerned.

Also, if it turns out to be a radial head fracture what do they do? Do they just splint it? If that’s the case I already have a sling I can use, so I would rather save my insurance for something more important then just wasting my entire Saturday to have them tell me to sling it and ice it.

Sorry for the super long, boring question! ^_^ Any comments would be greatly appreciated though.

About a year ago,i started experiencing pain in my right elbow.i have worked out for years,so I thought it may have been a strain,or even "tennis elbow" or something along those lines.I stopped lifting for awhile, but after a month or two,the pain appeared in my left elbow as well.About 6 months ago,the pain spread to my shoulders and chest/collarbone area.Any kind of pushing motion brings excruciating pain in the chest/shoulder area.My elbows don’t hurt to bend,or to lift things, but when extended,or when carrying things they ache bad.about a week ago the back of my right hand went numb, and hasn’t gotten better.I wake up several times a night and whatever side I’m on is asleep or in pain. I’m tired ALL the time,no matter how much rest I get.I have seen my physician, she ran a full blood test and after nothing was found, referred me to a rhuematiod arthritis specialist, whom I will see in a week-but all the research I’ve done doesn’t seem to match the symptoms of arthritis.Any ideas?

It started doing this when I was 13, the summer I started playing tennis.

I’m 17 now =P No one would ever take me to the doctor for it.

It hurts from time to time, but its not extremely painful or unbearable.

Now I really don’t feel it popping out like it used to, but I can still move whatever was popping out there on the side slightly.

Is this treatable? Or is the fact that its not popping out as often or as bad as it used to mean it’s healing itself?

I wore an arm brace for quite awhile, but it squished my arm more then helped my elbow =P
Its hard to tell with my jacket on, but I took it off and it is still popping out of the joint, whatever this thing is X_X Nothing looks out of place or odd on my elbow, but something is popping out on the side.
Oh yeah, this is my right elbow by the way.
If I doesn’t keep me from missing school like my evil sinus infections my mom doesn’t get off her butt to do much =P And we have no money, she has less money then I do and I have hardly any money D=

I don’t know why my grandma wouldn’t take me, she called a chiropractor but they wouldn’t even see me, he told me to wear the stupid elbow brace =P

Its not hindering my life at all in any way, its just annoying that it gets a little sore very easily.

I have a dr’s appt on tuesday, and I’m not using this for medical advice, but the last couple weeks I’ve had problems with both my hands going numb, and it’s hard to “wake them up”. Also, my right arm is KILLING me. The elbow area and upper arm area.

IDK what it is, it could be a pinched nerve, it could be carpal tunnel, it could be tennis elbow. I guess i’ll find out tuesday, but the only way I can describe the pain in my right arm is…sciatica on both sides of my arm, into my pinky & thumb. anyone else have these symptoms?

I’m wondering if i’ll have to see a specialist, i’m just in a ton of pain, so i’m going to stop typing & ice my elbow.

Thanks in advance!

I was tying my hair in a ponytail (my elbows bent and facing upwards) before walking into a fairly narrow corridor. As I walked into the corridor, my right elbow banged really hard into the wall at the side. There was a slight cracking sound and it hurt quite a lot but I didn’t think too much of it as I figured the pain would go away quickly like any other scrape or bang.

However, now, several hours later, it still hurts. I mean its not a deathly pain where I can’t concentrate on anything else, but it is really sore and achey whenever I make the slightest elbow movement.

Will it go away soon?
Do I need to see a doctor or anything?

Have there been any studies regarding protien diets and tendonitis? Could a high protein diet play a role in getting tendonitis or is it more likely just an increase in exercise/weightlifting? I recently increased my protein ratio in my diet and am dealing with tendonitis in my right elbow and left wrist. I didn’t know if there had been any work done on protein consumption and tendons. I’m sure it’s most likely just an increase in working out and muscles growing in strenght faster than tendons (but then again, isn’t getting stronger muscles why many increase protein consumption?)

About three weeks ago, I shot a basketball and my right elbow hurt (the shooting elbow, of course). I gave it about two weeks rest. I thought it did good when I shot from mid range, but found out it would still hurt to shoot from far. So I gave it another week of rest and it still hurts to shoot from far. My elbow only hurts after I shoot a basketball. After about fifteen seconds, it goes away.

I need help with this short story! Here’s the story:

Corlette ‘The Hand’

He had fallen asleep on his young wife’s shoulder, and she proudly bore the weight of the man’s head, blond, ruddy-complexioned, eyes closed. He had slipped his big arm under the small of her slim, adolescent back, and his strong hand lay on the sheet next to the young woman’s right elbow. She smiled to see the man’s hand emerging there, all by it self and far away from its owner. Then she let her eyes wander over the half-lit room. A veiled conch shed a light across the bed the color of periwinkle.
"Too happy to sleep," she thought.
Too excited also, and often surprised by her new state. It had been only two weeks since she had began to live the scandalous life of a newlywed who tastes the joys of living with someone unknown and with whom she is in love. To meet a handsome, blond young man, recently widowed, good at tennis and rowing, to marry him amonth later: her conjugal adventure had been little more than a kidnapping. So that whenever she lay awake beside her husband, like tonight, she still kept her eyes cosed for along time, then opened them again in order to savor, with astonishment, the blue of the brand-new curtains, instead of the apricot-pink through which the first light of day filtered into the room where she had slept as a little girl.
A quiver ran through the sleeping body lying next to her, and she tightened her left arm around her husband’s neck with the charming authority exercised by weak creatures. He did not wake up.
"His eyelashes are so long," she said to herself.
To herself she also praised his mouth, full and likable, his skin the color of pink brick, and even his forehead, neither noble nor broad, but still smooth and unwrinkled.
Her husband’s right hand, lying beside her, quivered in turn, and beneath the curve of her back she felt the right arm, on which her whole weight was resting, come to life.
"I’m so heavy…I wish I could get up and turn the light off. But he’s sleeping so well…"
The arm twisted again, feebly, and she arched her back to make herself lighter.
"It’s as if I were lying on some animal," she thought.
She turned her head a little on the pillow and looked at the hand lying there next to her.
"It’s so big! It really is bigger than my whole head."
The light, flowing out from under the edge of a parasol of bluish crystal, spilled up against the hand, and made every contour of the skin apparent, exaggerating the powerful knuckles and the veins engorged by the pressure on the arm. A few red hairs, at the base of the fingers, all curved in the same direction, like ears of wheat in the wind, and the flat nails, whose ridges the nail vuffer had not smoothed out, gleamed, coated with pink varnish.
"I’ll tell him not to varnish his nails," thought the young wife. "Varnish and pink polish don’t go with a hand so…a hand that’s so…"
An electric jolt ran through the hand and spared the young woman from having to find the right adjective. The thumb stiffened itself out, horribly long and spatulate, and pressed tightly against the index finger, so that the the hand suddenly took on a vile, apelike appearance.
"Oh!" whispered the young woman, as though faced with something slightly indecent.
The sound of a passing car pierced the silence with a shrillness that seemed luminous. The sleeping man did not wake, but the hand, offended, reared back and tensed up in the shape of a crab and waited, ready for battle. The screeching sound died down and the hand, relaxing gradually, lowered its claws, and became a pliant beast, awkwardly bent, shaken by faint jerks which resembled some sort of agony. The flat, cruel nail of the over long thumb glistened. A curve in the little finger, which the young woman had never noticed, appeared, and the wallowing hand revealed its fleshy palm like a red belly.
"And I’ve kissed that hand!…How horrible! Haven’t I ever looked at it?"
The hand, disturbed by a bad dream, appeared to respond to this startling discovery, this disgust. It regrouped its forces, opened wide, and splayed its tendons, lumps, and red fur like battle dress, then slowly drawing itself in again, grabbed a fistful of the sheer, dug into it with its curved fingers, and squeezed, squeezed with the methodical pleasure of a strangler.
"Oh!" cried the young woman.
The hand disappeared and a moment later the big arm, relieved of its burden, became a protective belt, a warm bulwark against all the terrors of night. But the next morning, when it was time for breakfast in bed-hot chocolate and toast-she saw the hand again, with its red hair and red skin, and the ghastly thumb curving out over the handle of the knife.
"Do you want this slice, darling? I’ll butter it for you."
She shuddered and felt her skin crawl on the back of her arms and down her back.
"Oh, no…no…"
Then she concealed her fear, bravely subdued herself, and, beginning her life of duplicity, of resignation, and of a

Hey,
I got tennis elbow 1 year ago(due to playing badminton excessively).I had to take ultrasound radiations, massages and had to wear a band on my arm which restricted movements.Thing is,I had it on my right elbow(I’m right-handed) and had to give numerous exams the month after that(writing was very painful but oh,well) – so I couldn’t give it much rest and one year after I got it,it still acts up now and then on application of least pressure for more than a few minutes.Doc keeps saying I need to give it time and rest – time I have, rest I can’t give(again,I have to write in classes and give tests/exams all the time).I’m more than worried now coz I’m really into sports and I need a strong right arm.Can any1 tell me abt some good exercises or therapies that can help strengthen my arm faster or atleast better?
Thnx!

Sometimes when I do pushups or bench press, i feel tension on my right elbow. Its not much of a pain, but it bothers me enough that i cant even do a rep. I dont think its about the weight either because sometimes while I do warmups for benching, i use the bar only, and even doing that would bother my right elbow. Does anyone know the reason behind this??

I have been suffering from "tennis elbow" in my right elbow (I am right handed) for the past 14 months. I also have lupus and my rheumatologist has been treating me at my routine visits for the elbow as well. He gave me hand outs of exercises & stretches to do which I have done faithfully and prescribed Mobic for inflammation. He has also done cortisone injections on 3 different occasions. The first injection provided excellent relief for 6 months. The next injection lasted 4 1/2 months and this last one never did provide any relief at all. He didn’t want to do anymore injections, referred me to physical therapy, and scheduled an appt. with an orthopaedic dr.

I have been going to physical therapy 3 times a week for the past month. They are doing ultrasound for 10 mins, then stretches, tendon excercises, iontophoresis for 25 mins, then ice for 10 mins.

After therapy the pain is about 50% better that day but by the next day it is back just as before.

I have noticed progressive weakness in my right arm and hand over the past year from me not being able to use it like before. It is extremely painful, tender, and lifting only the slightest of weight sends the pain radiating down to my hand.

I am a stay at home mom and do not participate in sports. Of course they say to stop doing the activity that is causing the injury. I don’t do any repetitive type activites they I am aware of (other than normal housework, etc).

My appt. with the ortho dr. is in 2 more weeks and I was just wondering what anyone with experience with this problem think my next step would be.

The handouts that I have list: 1. Rest, 2. Ice, 3. Anti Inflammatories, 4. Physical Therapy, 5. Cortisone Injections, 6. As final resort: Surgery.

I was hoping to avoid the surgery but I’m afraid we have already tried every other treatment without results.

I didn’t know how long the problem would need to persist before surgery would be considered.

Also, for anyone that has had surgery : was it beneficial and provide relief and also how long of a recovery period is required, and how difficult was the recovery.

Thank you in advance for any info.
