Ok, so I’m teaching myself Muay Thai at home, because I’m going to start it at a gym very soon. I’ve had boxing experience, so I can punch, and I’m getting the hang of adding kicks and knees. But I can’t elbow. Whenever I try against the bag, I either miss or scrape it. So what is the best way to throw an elbow?

I was tying my hair in a ponytail (my elbows bent and facing upwards) before walking into a fairly narrow corridor. As I walked into the corridor, my right elbow banged really hard into the wall at the side. There was a slight cracking sound and it hurt quite a lot but I didn’t think too much of it as I figured the pain would go away quickly like any other scrape or bang.
However, now, several hours later, it still hurts. I mean its not a deathly pain where I can’t concentrate on anything else, but it is really sore and achey whenever I make the slightest elbow movement.
Will it go away soon?
Do I need to see a doctor or anything?
