This is a long one, but please bear with me. I’ve got nowhere else to go!

So I’m 20 years old, and for the past few years I’ve had progressive joint and muscle pain. I was perfectly fine until I was 16 when I injured my back, and since then everything’s gone downhill. The injury healed normally, but since then it seems to flare up with inflammation every couple weeks or so and lasts a few days to a week. My hands were the next to go, I thought it was carpal tunnel at first, but it’s in both hands (I’m right handed), and I have pain in my pinkie and the outer part of my hand as well, which rules that out. Also my fingers are beginning to curve inwards and bulb out, if that makes sense My knees started acting up next. They just feel weak, kinda wobbly and they crack every time I bend them. Sometimes at night it feels like I have restless leg syndrome, but even moving around doesn’t help. Ankles are next. I injured them pretty bad a couple years ago, and I’m not sure if I broke or tore something, but if I’m on my feet too much they swell and get pretty painful. Elbows and shoulders after that. My shoulders feel like there’s heavy weights on them, and my elbows feel like I constantly have tennis elbow. Recently my entire body feels stiff, I’m starting to notice that the weather has an effect on how I feel. Dairy products, even calcium supplements trigger the pain. A lot of times my muscles feel like they’ve been strained, even though I’m usually in too much pain to do anything strenuous. I’m tired even after a full night’s sleep, and in the morning it seems like I have to force myself to get up. I was never this way!!

Here’s the thing- I’ve been tested for rheumatoid arthritis several times, and each time has come back negative. I’ve had tons of blood work done, and everything is always normal. I live in a small town, and every doctor I’ve been to tell me that it’s in my head, that it’s growing pains, one doctor even accused me of being a drug dealer trying to get pills to sell! They just don’t seemed concerned!

Has anyone ever had similar symptoms and gotten an accurate diagnosis? And would it be worth the long and agonizing six hour drive to see a fibromyalgia specialist or a rheumatologist? I just need an answer, 20 is too young to be feeling old! I know Yahoo Answers is the last place to ask for help concerning my health, and that no one on here can tell me exactly what it is, but I’ve got nothing else to lose. I’m at my wits end!!

Thank you for your help, and God bless!

Got it from over training 2 months ago, and I haven’t worked out since. Have been treating it with Pennsaid, Advils, ice, and rest. A few days ago I started to workout back, biceps, abs and legs, I also do some chest and shoulders, but nothing that involves the tricep. I still cant do any tricep exercises aka pushing exercises. I cant do any presses. Its been over 2 months and I am loosing muscle mass. How much longer till there is NO PAIN? Each week that goes by, the more depressed I get.

I CAN do kickbacks, but thats the only tricep exercise I can do…

I’ve had tennis elbow for some time now from military training. I’m out of the service now, and have rested my bicep for 8-10 weeks doing physical therapy and all the necessary things, but it’s still just as bad. Please do not recommend medical treatments (i.e. cortisone or resting). My question is if anyone knows of bicep/shoulder workouts that do not put too much strain on my elbows. Curls seem to only worsen them, and shoulder press is out of the question. Any WORKOUT ideas will be greatly appreciated, as not being able to lift weights and only doing cardio has caused me to lose nearly all of my hard earned muscle mass. Thanks in advance.
Correction: I’ve rested my elbows, not just biceps.

www.FreeGuideToSecrets.com Tennis Elbow Injury Before we even start to use a tennis elbow treatment it is worth looking at how we might be causing the injury to ourselves. Tennis elbow, also known as lateral epicondylitis, is an injury that occurs through repetitive motions of the wrist and forearm. This is particularly common with tennis players if the player has bad technique when playing a back hand game. The following are a few fundamental steps you can take to prevent injury: a) have a professional tennis coach assess the way you play. b) wear a protective arm brace – this can certainly help by cushioning the elbow, muscles and tendons from the shock of the tennis ball hitting the racquet. c) always warm up and cool down after each game paying particular attention to stretching the wrist and the shoulders. If you happen to become injured then what are the symptoms that you should look out for? a) gradually worsening pain b) an increase in the area of the pain from just the outside of the elbow to the forearm and back of the hand when either grasping or performing a twisting movement. c) a weakness in the wrist when grasping objects or trying to unscrew a jar lid etc. In addition to all the above if you are unfortunate enough to get tennis elbow then there are a variety of treatments available. I have recently joined the gym and started using some of the arm machines. I am used to the soreness associated with leg muscles and abs as I have worked them out many times in the past. My arms have not had so much attention. I did some bicep curls on a machine not free weights, and some tricep stuff as well as upper back and shoulders. Now I did this day before yesterday. Yesterday my triceps were sore and as the day went on my shoulder started to get so stiff I couldn’t really lift it. Then this morning my shoulder was fine but now my biceps are so sore that they hurt when my arms are in any sort of position, whether I’m using them or not. Is this normal for being sore on the upper body? Persistant pain? Because lower body I notice only really hurts when you are using the muscle or stretching. I did stretch after my exercises. My biceps hurt the most just above the elbow joint and seem swollen as well. Is there some common mistake people make on those machines I might not know?

The morning after a workout a couple of days a go i woke and my shoulders were hurting due to working out however whilst most of it went away i have this pain in the back of my shoulder alongside my rear deltoids which I’ve now had for 4 days. I can feel the pain if I’m standing or sitting and if I move my elbow behind my body. Now there’s a round bump next to the deltiod.

What can i do to stretch it or stop the pain?

Hi I’m a 16 year old female. I have been having a lot of pain. Hopefully someone can help me figure it out. Thank you.
Here are the details:
-active in dance for the past 9 years
-experienced back pain for the following week after my season was over, but this is typical after season
-season lasts about 6 months
-It has now been a month since the season is over and I am still experiencing the following pain
-continued back pain
-shoulder pain in both shoulders which started occuring 2 weeks before season was over
-periodic, but minimal pain in ankle (twisted several years ago and it hasn’t fully recovered)
-periodic, but minimal discomfort in knee (it tracks to the side, so it may not be uncommon for pain)
-neck has started to be uncomfortable (stiff, sore, etc.)
-periodic elbow pain in both elbows
-periodic wrist pain
-none of this is horrible pain, but it is not comfortable and most of it persists throughout the entire day

I am not sure if it is just due to overuse with intense season or if it could be due to something such as arthritis. I am just concerned because the back pain usually goes away within the first two weeks after the season ends. Also all this other joint pain. Thank you for any help. It is truly appreciated.
BTW I don’t think it’s rheumatoid arthritis because I don’t have swelling.

I have extremely achy joints all over my body. Knees, elbows, ankles, wrists, you name it. I also tend to have sore and tense muscles along my shoulders, neck, and back. Is there anything simple and non-medical I can do for either of these problems? Herbs I can add to bathwater or something? Thanks for any help!

okay, so i actually got injured (my foot) and had surgery to repair it. That was almost a year ago. Previously I was very active (I ran, worked out, ect)

I wanted to start doing things again because I had gained a bit of weight from being in a wheel chair. Sooo, I went to ultimate upper(group fitness class/upper body weight training) and it was a WHOLE lot harder than i remembered (x,x) I did use really light weights ~ 3lb and 5lb~ but this morning I woke up and I couldnt move my arms. My whole upper body seems frozen in place and it is painful to move(reach for something, pick up somthing) ect. Almost like a whole upper body cramp, i cant rotate my shoulders and bending at my elbow also is quite painful.

I’ve never had any problems doing this class previously and i could do ~5lbs 10lbs~ quiet easily. I’m not very familiar with injury or soreness in my upperbody so I am not sure what I should do and if I am actually hurt or just sore. Streching the muscles and poping the joints havent helped but created a burining sensation(which makes me think its an injury instead of soreness) the only type of muscle realted injury i am familiar with is in my legs and feet (quite prone to those) so i really am in the dark here about the problem.

Areas in pain:
Lower arm muscles
upper arm muscles
chest muscles
shoulder muscles
back muscles

now i know they cant all be injured but I do know that my shoulder area is where allmost all the pain is, (as in if i try to rotate the joint its horribly painful) my arms feel like they are just sore except that my right elbow feels like I may have pulled something… similar to throwing a softball wrong and hurting the elbow and shoulder area it seems.

What should I do, am i hurt in the joints or no?

I make shoulders exercises of 4-5 reps, can it have an effect on the growth of the bones of my shoulders? Also, can aerobic exercises like tennis, etc. have an effect?

Did some serious drinking last night…woke up with a tiny headache that went away fast, but now all of my joints are sore.

Not like a painful thing and nothing that is preventing any movement, but it’s annoying…is this from the drinking? I don’t think I’ve ever had sore joints after drinking before, but I can’t think of any other reason. I didn’t do excessive exercise or anything yesterday, and the soreness is about equal in my knees/elbows/hips/shoulders so I highly doubt it’s from sleeping in a weird position or anything.

If it is from drinking, how does it happen…just out of curiosity?

Over the last 2 months I’ve developed tennis elbow from cycling on my hybrid bicycle (Diamondback Maravista). I’ve had a "professional" look at me on my bike on a trainer and he installed an extension tube on my front fork, but that’s not helping.
For some reason it’s only on my LEFT elbow. I don’t think I’m overcompensating, but I broke my right arm broke the ulna where it meets the elbow) about 3 months ago, and started cycling seriously when I recovered from it (I got the docs ok to ride). I’m not tensing (death grip on the handlebars), elbows are bent, and my shoulders are forward. My handlebars are almost flat (just a slight rise), and I have bar ends. I’m willing to do whatever’s necessary, as I’m in the middle of trying to get in shape and I love cycling. Picture of bike can be seen on Diamondback.com or

I’m getting two black and gray tattoos. One on my upper arm just below the shoulders and another from the wrist to the elbow (on the inside of the arm). They will be pretty detailed

How long does it usually take to heal because I’m going on a training exercise to prepare for an upcoming deployment Army at the end of the month. Would the sleeves of the uniform cause a problem or mess up the tattoos?

I used to wait a bit when hitting with the racket and kind of pulled my shoulder. I think that’s where I’m most susceptible to injury when playing tennis. What are some tennis exercises for tennis for the shoulders?

I am desperate to figure out what is going on with me. I am a 37 year old female and about a week ago I started gettig a sore and stiff feeling in my hips, it has progressed rapidly to my ankles (now slightly swollen) also my knees and shoulders and elbow joints. What could cause such pain in all my joints. I can not imagine it is arthritis at my age and so sudden. Could it be a pinched nerve or a virus? it seems to be the worse when i am laying in bed at night and unbearable when rising in the morning. I cannot sleep because of the pain. It does seem to get slightly better when I am up walking around. Any ideas?

For 5 weeks now I have had severe joint and body pain mainly in my hands, elbows, shoulders, back of my knees sometimes my hips and bottom of feet and toes. Every morning I wake up with a very sore and swollen throat and lymph nodes hurt and are swollen. I’m extremely tired I can hardly function some days. I have had all sorts of blood tests and they all came back normal except the ebstein barr virus test was a bit high but the doctors told me to not worry about that. I saw a rheumatologist he says 50% chance i have rheumatoid arthritis. I don’t wanna believe that or find it hard to believe because of the sore throat and extreme tiredness to and the swollen lymph nodes in my neck. I’m so fed up the doctor aren’t helping, they have me on prednisone a steroid and it only works a couple hours a day then i’m in chronic pain again. I’m a single mom with two boys and I can hardly take care of them or even dress myself or take care of me. I’m so desperate to find out what is wrong with me. Can anyone help. What do you think it could be. I’m taking all sorts of vitamins nothing helps. HELP PLEASE!
I’ve had no fever. Just the symptoms listed.

my hips, knees, wrists, elbows and shoulders. Recently this started when I began a new exercise video. I expected my knees, but not the others. Actually, I haven’t even watched the video in days because of my pain. It’s dull, but continuous. I don’t want to go to the doctor about it, unless it seems absolutely necessary. I have had tendonitis in my wrists before and bursitis in my hips. I’m still in my 20′s. Are there any professional opinions out there?

About a year ago,i started experiencing pain in my right elbow.i have worked out for years,so I thought it may have been a strain,or even "tennis elbow" or something along those lines.I stopped lifting for awhile, but after a month or two,the pain appeared in my left elbow as well.About 6 months ago,the pain spread to my shoulders and chest/collarbone area.Any kind of pushing motion brings excruciating pain in the chest/shoulder area.My elbows don’t hurt to bend,or to lift things, but when extended,or when carrying things they ache bad.about a week ago the back of my right hand went numb, and hasn’t gotten better.I wake up several times a night and whatever side I’m on is asleep or in pain. I’m tired ALL the time,no matter how much rest I get.I have seen my physician, she ran a full blood test and after nothing was found, referred me to a rhuematiod arthritis specialist, whom I will see in a week-but all the research I’ve done doesn’t seem to match the symptoms of arthritis.Any ideas?

I would like to make my shoulders more well developed and specifically more flexible for tennis. I am wanting this to contribute to increasing the height of my elbow on my racquet drop in my serve. What are some exercises and stretches that will accomplish this? Also, Pete Sampras’ shoulder was supposedly more well developed than most pitchers’, and he could touch his elbows together behind his back. Sampras was obviously an amazing natural athlete, but is this sort of flexibility impossible to reach for most people?

I am going to the MEPS in about 10 days. I have a slightly aggravated tendon or ligament in my elbow that reduces my arm to about 15 degrees less than straight. I have been approved to go for all kinds of other injuries, ACL tears and ankle tears and breakage. I did not mention my elbow because it does not cause any problems. I can still do push ups and pull ups. I can still ride BMX damn well. I didn’t even consider it until I read the descriptions of exercises done at MEPS. I can touch thumbs to shoulders, but when I extend arms out in front with palms up, one arm is a little off. Considering getting a cortisone shot before I go. Does it sound like I will be DQ’d for this?

So, I’ve been a cashier for seven years and I get a really bad pain in my wrist and it goes into my shoulders. It’s really bad. I wake up and I can barely move my arm. I have to prop myself up with my other arm. I’ve been to the doctor and he told me I have tennis elbow or something and gave me this little brace to wear on my forearm. I’ve used this to no avail. I am wondering, however, if I would be able to do some type of exercise to alieviate my pain.
