how experienced were you when you started? was it very hard? i wanna know what exercises i can do to improve my tennis skills. i have a good backhand but im a little rusty. and im afraid that my soon-to-be tennis coach wont be that good. is it okay to do simple exercises by myself, like running with weights?
i mean wrist weights.

crab walks-across court up and down-1 rep, 2 sets
squat jumps-10 reps, 1 set
run up to the net, then run backwards-5 reps, 3 sets
Are there any other good tennis conditioning drills that anyone knows?

Kim Aron Personal Trainer, writer, blogger, networker and coach. My high school tennis coach has us do an exercise for conditioning called "Iron-man" and basically what it is, is we hold a push-up in down position except we get to keep our elbows on the ground. We have to hold it that way for a minute, sometimes a minute and a half, keeping our backs straight. My coach says this is good for the abdominals, and that may be true, but I am also wondering if it is bad for the back because I KNOW that lunges (another thing that we do) is bad for your knees, and there may be a strong possibility that the Iron-man is bad for your back, because I feel tension when I do it. Any thoughts?
Is this exercise bad** for the back. Sorry I didn’t realize I spelled back twice. My bad
